Student Section: Mustangs of the Week: Congratulations to Adam Gonzalez, Emily Basulto, Brianna Carranza and Nicole Rodriguez who showed true Mustang Citizenship by contributing to the safety and welfare of our Mustang students. They demonstrated strong initiative and responsibility. Adam, Emily, Brianna and Nicole we thank you for being good and caring Mustangs. These wonderful Mustangs were nominated by Mr. Magee, Dean. Congratulations to Jocelyn Valles who found an Iphone in the girl’s restroom. She immediately turned the cell phone in to Mr. Slayton. Jocelyn you demonstrated what a caring Community Contributor is all about. Jocelyn was nominated by Mr. Slayton, Campus Aide. Congratulations to Deanna Saldana and Michelle Hernandez (SMART) who turned in a lost cellphone and turned it in to Mr. Magee. Deanna and Michelle, you both exhibited what caring Mustangs do. Arleta High School’s 10TH Year Anniversary: Monday, October 3, 2016 is Arleta High School’s 10TH year Anniversary. Arleta opened its doors on October 03, 2006 under the leadership of Dr. Linda Calvo, founding Principal. We still have teachers, counselors, dean, secretaries, paraprofessionals, plant manager, and cafeteria workers who were here on that exciting first day. In the spirit of our Anniversary we will be having a Pep Rally on Friday, October 14, 2016 to celebrate our first decade in the Dr. Calvo Theatre during both Advisories. “Come To School Every Día, To Earn Your Quesadilla.” Attendance Challenge: Yes, it is always a perfect time to earn great prizes. Well, here it is your second chance to earn a special invitation for a yummy Quesadilla social. So how can you do this? Homecoming Court Voting: Hey Mustangs! Monday, October 10, 2016 and Tuesday, October 11, 2016, Advisories will be voting during their Advisories for the Homecoming Court for their own grade level. Homecoming Dance Tickets: Hey Mustangs! Homecoming Dance tickets be sold beginning Monday, September 19, 2016 through Friday, October 7, 2016 during both lunches by the Student Store. You cannot be on any debt list or Senior Probation to buy a ticket. Prices will start at $13.00 and go up each week ($15.00 / $18.00). 9Th Grade ticket prices will stay at $13.00 throughout the sale. Also Guest forms will be up soon on line at arletahigh.net. Come join the fun! Senior Packages: Seniors, remember that your initial orders and deposit for your Senior Packages are due Friday, December 9, 2016. If the fee is not paid by the deadline you will be charged an extra $10.00. The final date to fully pay for your Senior Package is February 10, 2017. Remember these dates as they are important to you Seniors. Key Club: Hey Mustangs! Interested in volunteering for various events and earning volunteer hours? Come Join Key Club! We are having a Key Club meeting, Wednesday, October 5, 2016 afterschool in the Library. We hope to see you there! KYDS’ Program: The first KYDS’ Job Readiness will take place on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at 3:40 p.m. in Room C204. Come learn how to fill out applications, make resumes, and answer interview questions and a lot more! Also the Fitness Center is open on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays with Coach Sascha from 3:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Come and get fit! Volunteer Bilingual Peer Tutors Needed: Hey students! Are you bilingual? Are you earning excellent grades? Then consider lending a helping hand by becoming a Bilingual Peer tutor. We have tutoring classes available before school and after school. You can earn artifacts for your portfolio. By volunteering to be a bilingual peer tutor, you’d be assisting English Learners with their academics. For more information, see Roxana De Paz in Leadership or Mrs. Guzman, TSP Coordinator in A112. Military Representatives: Every 2nd Wednesday of each month is Military Information day. There will be Military representative here in the College Center. Visit them during both lunches in order to retrieve more information about our United States Armed Forces. Beachy Gate Exit with “Home” Period: All students with a “Home” period 3 or 4 must exit campus through the Beachy Gate only. Hall Pass and Restroom Policy: Students are not allowed out of class the first and last 20 minutes of each period. The restrooms in the Gym will be open after school. The restrooms located in the middle of each B building floor will be open during passing period only. The restrooms adjacent to the Mustang Theatre will be open during class time. School Rules/Policies: The Dress Code, Electronic Device Confiscation rules and all other policies will be enforced immediately upon entering our campus. Advisory and Lunch Dismissal: To minimize the overcrowding of stairwells - all 9th and 12th grade students enter through the side stairwells of the B building after lunch. Additionally, all 10th and 11th grade students exit to the lunch area through the center stairwell of the B building only. Enrollment Documents: If you missed Mustang Round-Up, you must return the following mandatory documents: Emergency Card, Eligibility Form and Publicity Authorization Form to your SLC Secretary. All Seniors and Juniors must return the Senior Policy and Junior Acknowledgement form along with the Eligibility form to Ms. Sainz, AP, A109. Debts: Textbook debts, Library debts, Candy-drive debts, and Athletic Uniform debts were carried over from last year. All students who owe a debt must pay it off. If you owe any debts see the following people listed to clear your debt: Textbook - Mr. Hayes, VAPA Office Library - Ms. Hein, Library Candy - Mr. Jimenez, Student Store Athletic Uniform - Athletic Coach Any student who owes a debt will not be allowed to participate in co-curricular activities. CELDT TESTING : It is that time of year to administer the CELDT to all English Learners. Dear Teachers you will receive allow the student to make up any missed assignments as this is a State mandate. Students need to accomplish three things to reclassify: pass the CELDT, pass the Reading Inventory Test and pass their English class. Contact Mrs. Guzman in the Main Office if you have any questions. Thank you for your support! 5 Column Rosters: As mentioned in your SLC Meetings and the 5 Column Roster memos we have a new procedure for submitting attendance. We are asking teachers to take attendance on both MISIS and 5 Column Rosters for each one of their classes. This procedure will assist us in case of accidentally missed attendance submittals, MISIS glitches and audit purposes. Every Friday please send the attendance folder with your rosters to your SLC Office by 2:15 p.m. and on Monday you will receive a new set on of 5 Column rosters in your mail boxes. Your SLC Secretary will keep your rosters for record keeping purposes. Thank you for your support and cooperation. MISIS Roster and new enrollees: If a student still does not show up on your MISIS roster after 3 days or more, please inform your SLC office.
