Entry Rules and Requirements (these rules and requirements are in addition to 2018 General Competition Requirements as well as GE/FA 2018 Competition & Entry Requirements)
1. All exhibits will be received in the crops exhibit and preparation area on the southeast side of the Agriculture/Horticulture Annex of the Small Animal Building. 2. Exhibits will be accepted through Gate #2(walk-in only). Please check in at Gate #2 with General Entry Staff. General Entry staff will be at gate to assist with wagons. 3. Exhibits must have been grown by the exhibitor on their small farm or in their garden during 2018. Misrepresented products will be disqualified and all entry fees forfeited. 4. Hay entries must indicate whether it has been treated with a preservative. 5. Hay Bales in each entry will be cored, mixed, and tested using a near infrared reflectance instrument to determine dry matter, crude protein, acid detergent fiber (digestibility), and other nutrients. Exhibitors will be provided with composite lab test results on each entry received. 6. Fourth cutting alfalfa is not eligible to compete. 7. Hay and alfalfa final placings may be adjusted by visual appraisal with consideration given to leafiness, color and quality, absence of weeds, insects and other foreign matter, as well as general appearance. Final results after visual adjustments will be posted in the Small Animal Building. 8. In grass hay entries, when more than a trace of alfalfa or other legumes is detected in the bale, the entry will automatically be moved to the alfalfa class. 9. No sheaves or bundles which have previously competed at the Colorado State Fair may be entered. Only sheaves or bundles which have never competed at the Colorado State Fair may compete.
