School Leadership Team (SLT) Deputy Principal – Pastoral and Co-Curriculum ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Purposes of the role:
To be responsible for the pastoral care structures at POWIIS and to ensure every student is fully and effectively supported according to their needs To ensure all matters of student safeguarding are embedded in school culture and practice, and that staff professional development in this area is comprehensive and effective To oversee the co-curriculum and enrichment programmes within the school, contributing to the school’s vision of a genuinely holistic education To deputise for the Principal when required, in cooperation with SLT colleagues

To be an active, constructive and creative member of the SLT sharing fully in all decision making regarding the day to day running of the school, and longer term policy making Lead and develop the pastoral systems within POWIIS, ensuring each student has the very best care and support, and recommend developments as and when necessary Lead and develop all safeguarding practices within the school, providing focused and engaging staff development to maintain vigilance and awareness at the highest level Work closely with housemasters and tutors in the care and management of all students and affirm and consult regularly through meetings and whole staff discussions to ensure no opportunity is missed to maintain outstanding standards of care Maintain, develop and administer school disciplinary processes Ensure comprehensive records of significant student contacts are maintained Be a professional role model for all staff, showing the highest standards of inter-personal and professional interaction with staff, students and parents, and in matters of dress and presentation, and insisting on high standards from others Developing staff capabilities by thoughtful delegation, and making recommendations to the Principal on staff progression Oversight of boarding provision, liaising with boarding staff over all matters of student care and welfare Structuring and monitoring staff duties around the school November 2018
Supporting, developing and administratively managing the co-curricular programme of the school, working closely with the Director of Sport, Performing Arts staff and all those providing enrichment opportunities in the programme Oversee the trips and off-site activities programme (managed by others) Oversee and maintain the school diary and calendars (internal and external) managing conflicting interests through consultation at calendar committee meetings as required Manage and develop school student leadership opportunities, including the school Prefect group Oversee and support student charitable initiatives, including but not limited to the student Humanitarian Committee Provide opportunities for student feedback through formal and informal channels Manage a delegated budget for events and celebrations Liaison with the school caterers to maintain the highest standards achievable Oversight of school busing (managed by the student services manager) Management of information bulletins for students Other such duties as appropriate and agreed with the Principal
