Honk, Honk, Zipcar Is Here! This semester Zipcar is available to all Rockhurst University students over 18, faculty and staff. Zipcar is wheels when you want them, literally. With Zipcars parked nearby at UMKC, all you have to do is decide where you want to go and when. Zipcar’s cutting edge technology allows you to reserve cars 24/7, online or on your mobile device. Low hourly and daily rates include gas, insurance, and 180 miles per day. Why deal with having a car on campus? Find out more at www.zipcar.com/rockhurst or find us on facebook. All education students must pass all four sections of the College Basic Academic Subjects Examination (College BASE) before taking any upper level education courses. We will offer the College BASE here on campus at 4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26. Registration forms are available in VA 303. For details, call Mary x4140.
Want to study history in Paris, literature in India or theater in London? ISA has all that and more! An ISA representative will be on-campus Thursday, Jan. 19, to visit with you about opportunities to study abroad. Stop by the information table between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., located in Massman Hall by the cafeteria, to find out more! We are happy to walk you through our programs, answer questions about financial aid, scholarships and help you find the best fit for your major. Information about intern and volunteer aboard opportunities also will be available. The North Parking Garage is now open. 1. The gate arms located on the ramp going to the second level are now activated and you will use your Rockhurst I.D. (swipe card) to both enter and exit. A parking permit will not be needed until Jan. 30. 2. Anyone found parking on any Rockhurst lot, including the North Parking Garage, without a current Rockhurst Parking Permit will be ticketed starting Monday, Jan. 30. The ability to enter the parking garage via swipe card does not authorize parking there. 3. Currently, the parking garage elevator is not working. Use the stairwells located at both the north and south ends of the parking garage. Should the south tower still be blocked off (because of a broken window pane) between the rd th 3 and 4 levels do not use the south stairwell from those levels. As soon as the broken glass pane is replaced the barricade tape will be removed. You can exit the garage via the south nd stairwell or the ramps from the 2 level or the north stairwell or via the ramps (be careful and watch for vehicle traffic). 4. The posted speed limit in the parking garage is 5 mph 5. Be careful when entering or exiting the parking garage especially when making left turns both into and out of the parking garage. 6. Security phones are located at both the north and south ends of the parking garage on every level. These are push button blue phones, as already used on campus. Familiarize yourself with their locations. Security will be patrolling through the garage. Twenty-two closed circuit televisions provide surveillance of a large portion of the parking garage and are monitored and recorded. Signs announcing that the area is under surveillance have been ordered. If anyone has questions about the parking garage please contact Matt Heinrich or Bill Evans.
