Each chapter test will be worth 100 points each. Quizzes will be given on a consistent basis, in which each will be worth between 10 – 25 points. Each test/quiz will consist of free-response, multiple-choice and review questions. Missed tests must be taken after school within 4 days of absence, or the test score will be a zero. It is the student’s responsibility to arrange this time with me. Benchmarks: There will be four Benchmark Exams throughout the school year. (Please see the school calendar for specific dates. These exams are given to assess the student’s knowledge of the content and to determine how well prepared they are for the CST’s (California State Exams). III. School Policies 1. Dress Code Policy: The purpose of our dress code is to teach students to dress professionally. LAICHS' dress code is strictly enforced. Students who are out of uniform will receive a 45 minute detention to be served that same day.
2. Bathroom Policy: Class time is very valuable therefore students will not be allowed to use the restroom during class time. Students have ample time to use the restroom before each period. In case of an extreme emergency students will be allowed to use the rest room. 3. Plagiarism Policy: Plagiarism means saying something is your work when it's not. It's wrong and unethical. This includes copying and pasting from the internet, copying someone’s work, or having someone else complete your work. Plagiarized work will receive a 0 and a referral to the office. 4. Electronic Policy: Students are only permitted to use cell phones and electronics outside of class during break, lunch and after school. If staff observe or hear any such device it must be confiscated and submitted to the Front Office and the following rules will apply: First Offense- Confiscated for one week Second Offense- Confiscated for two week Third Offense- Confiscated for entire semester Parents must pick up phone from office on Mondays from 2:00pm - 4:00pm after confiscation period. 5. Tardy Policy: Class time is very important. Students who are tardy at any period will receive an automatic 45 minute detention to be served that same day. 6. Absence Policy: Any student who is absent must obtain an absence slip from the Office. Students cannot be readmitted to class without an absence slip. Students can only make up any missed work after getting their absence slipped signed. Any student with an unexcused absence will not be allowed to make up any work. 7. Late Work Policy: We are a college ready school, which means that we are preparing you to succeed in college. In college no late work is accepted. Therefore, we do not accept any late work. IV. Student Expectations Be on time Promote a positive classroom environment. Any behavior that interrupts the learning environment will not be tolerated. This includes talking during instruction, when others are talking, and during quizzes and tests.
Treat yourself, others and materials with respect Work hard!! Complete assignments on time. Food and drink is not permitted in class
GUEST TEACHER ALERT: I have very high expectations for student behavior when a guest teacher is in my place. Consequences follow the same as when I am present and can include a teacher conference, detention, referral to the office and even class suspension in severe cases. Practice/Homework Homework will be assigned every class day with very few exceptions. Homework and class work is to be in pencil only. Be neat and show work – every step. Circle, box or highlight answers. Use graph paper when asked to graph. It’s a great way to keep neat and organized if you really use the grids to guide you. Rework problems until you get them correct. Remember to do the HW the same day it is assigned. Come by for help before school, lunch or after school the next day if you have any difficulty. “I didn’t get it” is a poor excuse.
V. School Website: The school website is www.laicharter.org. This is where I will post copies of CW/HW, answers to CW/HW, textbook pages, useful/helpful links, and tutorial videos. VI.
