FUND DRIVE ENDS
INSPECTION CANCELLED
April 2nd—6th Spring Break
JROTC completed its annual chocolate fund drive in December. Once again the cadets selected Gateway Fund Raising for their annual drive. Thirty three cases of World’s Finest Variety Chocolates were sold bringing $1,650.00 into JROTC. Cadets who sold a case of chocolates were rewarded with a JROTC polo shirt valued at $12.95. After deducting the $900.00 initial cost of the chocolate and $390.00 for the polo shirts, the cadets netted $360.00. This amount will go towards their annual awards show in May 2012.
The Headquarters JROTC inspection that had been scheduled for January 25th has been cancelled for this school year. The inspection will be rescheduled for next school year. Like SPHS and LAUSD, the Air Force is experiencing funding shortages for its many obligations such as JROTC. To save funds, JR Headquarters has opted to move inspections once every four years rather than every three years for programs that received “above standards” on their last inspection. SPHS JROTC was last inspected in February 2009 and received an “above standards” with no discrepancies.
