Restricted Funds - Saint John Neumann
As you are aware, Cardinal Timothy Dolan announced the merger of the Parishes of Saint Joseph-Saint Thomas and Saint John Neumann that was effective July 1, 2017. The two parishes are now one parish. Much work has been accomplished in working towards this goal. During the process of creating one financial account, a restricted account belonging to Saint John Neumann was identified. The monies in this account were raised during a capital campaign that began in 1991 with the purpose of building a new church. Clearly, this plan never materialized. There is approximately $453,000 in this account. The Office of Development of the Archdiocese of New York, which maintains the donor records from capital campaigns, provided the list of names and addresses of the Saint John Neumann parishioners who donated towards this 1991 capital campaign. A letter was sent to each of the names on the list notifying them of the monies in the restricted account and asked if they would like to use these funds to support the pastoral and administrative activities of the merged parish, or, if they would like to have their donation returned to them. If you did not receive a letter and you are able to provide proof of making a donation to this capital campaign, please contact Colleen Herbert at the Archdiocese of New York,
[email protected] or 646-794-2946 no later than Tuesday, February 5, 2019. In February 2019, the Archdiocese of New York will petition the courts to release these funds.
