Baptism of the Lord REFLECTIONS ON THE BAPTISM OF THE LORD
We who have been baptized into Christ have received the same Spirit as Jesus. We too can hear the Father say of us, “This is my beloved.” Imagine yourself in the Jordan River being baptized with Jesus. Ask the Holy Spirit to manifest his power in you in a fresh way.
Jesus humbled himself by submitting to John’s baptism of repentance. How does humility in our own lives help us to better love and serve the Lord? Is there a specific area in your life where you need to grow in humility?
Baptized into his life and death, we can take on the character, and even the very heart, of Jesus. Ask the Lord to give you the faith to believe this truth. Then ask him to open your heart and transform you into his image. Prayer : Lord, fill me with your Holy Spirit. May I find joy in seeking to please you, just as you found joy in seeking to please your Father.

PARISH ADMINISTRATION 2019 Offertory Envelopes were mailed out in December. If you have not received yours yet, please place your donation in any envelope labelled with your name and address. Please make an effort to write the amount of your donation on your envelope. This small step saves a great deal of time for the volunteer teams who process our weekly collections. If you do not have envelopes, but wish to begin using them, please visit the parish office. Pre-Authorized Giving – The PAG program allows parishioners to request that a monthly total be transferred from their bank account to OLS Parish on the 20 th of each month to cover weekly offertory (and special collections, if desired). If you would like to participate in this program, go to www.sorrows.ca to download the forms. The 2019 offertory envelopes have been revised to allow parishioners the same flexibility as those who use PAG. “Other donations” can include any of the special collections taken up at Masses throughout the year. Parish Registration – If you attend OLS parish regularly, please ensure that you are registered with the parish office. (Young adults who have completed their education should be registered as individuals.) Please also inform your previous parish that you have moved so they can remove you from their active records.
Parking Lot Policy - A gentle reminder regarding parking at OLS: 1) The OLS Church parking lot is private property and is intended for the use of registered parishioners and/or visitors who are attending Mass or a parish function. Anyone else using the parking lot for any other reason will be asked to leave at the discretion of the parish office. 2) Unauthorized VEHICLES in the Church parking lot will be TAGGED/TOWED at owners’ expense. A Warning Notice will be issued and the license plate of the vehicle will be recorded. Vehicles of repeat offenders will be Tagged/Towed at owners’ expense. 3) Unauthorized VISITORS using the parking lot will be asked to remove themselves and/or their car from the lot. 4) LOITERING in the church parking lot and on church grounds is strictly prohibited and those refusing to leave will be reported to the police. 5) ILLEGAL PARKING within the lot which blocks other cars will not be tolerated. Those parking in aisles or blocking the entrance or exit to the lot may be towed. This is a safety issue. A Warning Notice will be issued and the license plate of the vehicle will be recorded. Vehicles of repeat offenders will be Tagged/Towed at owners’ expense.
