PAINTING INSTRUCTIONS: Note: the H on the top Halloween I had to piece together. On the stencil was not one that size. So I used the lower case H and added the top curl with part of another letter to make it look like a capital H.
Base coat as follows: Pumpkin: the two outer pumpkins Spiced Pumpkin: the center pumpkin and the post. Lamp Black: all lettering, stars on the corners, and details on large stars on the bottom. Honey Brown: center pumpkin’s hat
Stars across the bottom: I used the yellows listed. They don’t have to be in the same order: the two outer stars: Camel. The next two: Yellow Ochre. The center star: French Vanilla. Shade the stars with Spiced Pumpkin. The details on each pumpkin are painted with Black. I added a small Light Buttermilk dot to the squares and the circles. Outline the stars with the pen.
All pumpkins: Dry brush the center of faces with Light Buttermilk. Let dry. Dry brush the cheeks with Deep Burgundy. All eyes and mouth are painted with Lamp Black. Highlight with Light Buttermilk.
First pumpkin on the left: Paint the nose with Deep Burgundy. Dry brush with Light Buttermilk. Hair, star eyes, and mouth are painted with Lamp Black.
Center Pumpkin: Paint the nose with Light Cinnamon. Dry brush with Light Buttermilk. Paint the hat with Honey Brown. Shade with Light Cinnamon. Dry brush highlights with Light Buttermilk. Paint the heart with Deep Burgundy. Paint the sunflower petals with Yellow Ochre. Lightly dry brush the petals with French Vanilla. Paint the center of flower with Light Cinnamon. Add Lamp Black dots to the center. Paint the leaves with Plantation Pine. Highlight with Yellow Ochre. Dabble a little Spiced Pumpkin here and there on the leaves. Paint the veins with Plantation Pine. Use a small flat brush double loaded with Honey Brown and Yellow Ochre. Paint the straw hair in one strokes. Highlight with a little French Vanilla. Using your liner brush and Lt. Cinnamon to outline the straw hair. See above for eyes and mouth. artistsclub.com | 3
Last pumpkin on the right: Paint the nose with Zinc. Dry brush with Light Buttermilk. See above for eyes and mouth. Using a small flat brush, load with Lt. Cinnamon. Paint the stick hair. Paint the little lines on the post with Black. The bows for each pumpkin is: Plantation Pine, Deep Burgundy, and Yellow Ochre. Highlighted with a little Light Buttermilk.
FINISHING: Use the pen to outline everything and add stitching. Mix a little water with Black to inky consistence. Load the fan brush, tap on the handle of another brush to remove any blobs. Lightly tap over the surface. Let dry. The reason I have two matte varnishes lastly is that I like to lightly mist the surface before adding a heavier coat of brush on varnish because the pen may run. By misting the surface first with the spray, it will set the pen to stop it from running.
