Full-time Faculty, English Department Division of Liberal Studies MCCC/MTA unit Position GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: This faculty position requires teaching writing courses (Composition 1 & Composition 2) and literature courses such as World Literature. North Shore Community College holds classes in Danvers and Lynn, and faculty often teach on both campuses. The successful candidate will be sensitive to a diverse student body with a wide range of academic preparedness. English courses are designed for students in transfer programs as well as those in career programs. * Teach up to five courses or fifteen credits each semester in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement. * Participate in departmental planning and curriculum development. Monitor the curriculum in English as a member of the department. * Provide academic advising for students. * Provide college service such as serving on governance committees. * Perform other duties consistent with the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement. QUALIFICATIONS: * Master's degree required. Master's in English preferred; closely related fields considered. Composition Specialist preferred. * Experience teaching composition courses in community college preferred. * Interest in and ability to teach online courses strongly preferred. * Appreciation of multiculturalism required. * Successful experience interacting with culturally diverse populations required. * Knowledge of and experience with multimedia technology preferred. SALARY: Anticipated salary is $42,000 to approximately $45,000 per year plus fringe benefits. Actual salary will be determined in accordance with classification determination of MCCC/MTA salary schedule commensurate with education and experience.
