You will be calculating unit rates of products that you can buy at the grocery store. Your task is to select several (minimum: 4) products that you would like to buy at the grocery store and cut them out of the advertisements. You will then need to calculate the unit price of the item. Here are some things to remember when searching for products to buy: ∑ Many products, especially meat and produce (fruits and vegetables) are already sold in unit prices. There is no need for you to find the unit price of these items – the store already does it for you! ∑ The abbreviation “ct.” stands for “count.” It means the number of items that come in a package. For example, if a package of cookies is “24 ct.” that means that 24 cookies come in the package. ∑ You may not find the unit price of items that are sold “10 for $10” or “2 for $6.” These are too easy. ∑ You are not old enough to purchase beer, wine, or any other type of alcohol – don’t even try.
