Dear Parents/Caregivers, Thanks to all the children and families who supported the “Winter Blues” disco on Friday night. From what I observed everyone had a fun time. Special thanks to families and staff who helped organise and run the evening. What’s happening around school? We now know ‘The Food for Life’ Friday lunches will be starting on Friday, 20th June. It is for all children and we expect all to participate though they will still need to bring something for morning snack. The cost to school is $1 per meal and we are happy to receive your donations to help cover this. Our school website while it is up and running, note that it is still under development. Let us know what you think. www.totaragrove.school.nz You will have heard about the government’s proposed strategy ’Improving Educational Success’ (IES). Here is a link to a ‘quick video guide’ that explains what it is about and the concerns of teachers and principals nation-wide. Spending $359 million on teachers and principals will in itself not create success for your children! http://www.youtube.com/watch? v=nO5UGJmVpmg

And remember our ROCKS: “Respect,
Ownership, Communication, Kaupapa, Sportsmanship”. This week for the man in the house, here is some advice about maintaining good relationships. “If your wife or partner is upset with you, take her in your arms and tell her she is the most beautiful person you know. If she is really, really angry with you, stand well back and throw chocolates to her!”
Principal’s Comment: Make sure you can
have your say by registering to vote in the elections coming up in September. I was reading an article recently about the high number of people, adults and children who have anxiety problems.
