helmets when riding scooters. We are developing guidelines for use in Term 4 but commonsense is the most important criteria.
“Our-Tearoa - Love it Here!!!” is in its final night of performances. It has been a very special event and is the result of many weeks of hard work by students, staff and others who have supported the classes. We thank you all for taking the time to get your stars to the shows and for your support throughout. Productions like this do not happen without a lot of direction, energy and support. I would like to acknowledge the staff of Maunu School, who have shown commitment, planning and a sense of humour as we have travelled on this journey! I do not usually single people out, however this year without the skills of a professional drama teacher, Kendra Bradley from our staff has stepped into the role and has been amazing. She has worked with the school team and ensured that all the strings get pulled together. She will be the first to say that she is only one of the team, and that is true, but we all know that every team needs a leader. An amazing job, Kendra. And of course, the wonderful performers!! All 367 children here at Maunu School have participated, which makes it a splendiforous spectacle!! The children have worked extremely hard and have presented acts that are professional and classy. Well done to you all, and thank you for your positive efforts. The show has been recorded. We will be sharing this with you by a link once this goes live.
To all parents of Y 6 students: Please make sure you have enrolled at the school (or schools) your child is likely to go to. If they are enrolled they will get put into a class, if not it will be a lottery when you just roll up!! It is better to enrol and then withdraw, than to enrol late. Here at Maunu we have information or contacts for the main schools who are actively looking at Y7/8 education: Pompallier College; Whangarei Intermediate; Kamo Intermediate; Matarau School; Huanui College.
Term 3 has been a bit of a trial for many people with some very nasty bugs and illnesses hanging around. Let us hope that the sun continues to shine and everyone is in better health for Term 4. The scooter track has been laid and was opened on Wednesday – photos on the back of the newsletter. The landscaping will take some time and is a long term plan for the Scooter Group. This is a project that has been led by a group of students and supported by the PTA with funding and encouragement. It is a scooter track and has been designed as such. It is not for bikes. Any scooters need to be at a level that ensures they are safe. This includes rubber hand grips that cover the metal shafts. Children will also need to wear
