27th Sunday In Ordinary Time Within your will, O Lord, all things are established, and There is none that can resist your will. For you have made all things, the heaven and the earth, and all that is held within the circle of heaven; you are the Lord of all. Esther 4:17

From Our Pastor ~ A NOTE REGARDING THE DIOCESAN LIST OF PRIESTS WITH CREDIBLE ALLEGATIONS OF MISCONDUCT WITH A MINOR The October 7, 2018 edition of The Catholic Moment printed an article entitled “Priests who served in the Diocese of Lafayette-in-Indiana with Substantiated Allegations of Sexual Misconduct with Minors.” The article was first released in an online edition of the diocesan newspaper on September 28, 2019 and can also be found online at https://dol-in.org/catholic-moment. The list of 12 priests, both diocesan and those of religious orders, covers the years from 1944 (the year of the creation of our diocese) until the present. To quote the article, “Allegations are deemed to be substantiated when there is reasonable cause to believe that abuse with a minor occurred. A determination does not constitute a legal judgement.” I want to highlight the fact that two previous pastors of St. Joseph, Rev. Arthur Sego and Rev. Raymond Wieber, are listed among those with substantiated allegations against them. It is my understanding that this was already known by many parishioners, though likely not by all. That said, now that this information has come to light and been made public by the diocese, I would like to make a couple of points. First, I am choosing not to reiterate a complete response to the abuse that has occurred in the Church now that we know it has been in our backyard. I will stand by what I have written previously and what I have said in a homily specifically addressing the issue on August 18-19, 2018 and have alluded to in a number of homilies since: that we should feel embarrassed and angry, but not lose hope as we commit ourselves to following Christ in his Church and doing all in our power to eradicate this evil from our midst. Secondly, knowing now the proximity of this abuse, I want to publish here the means that are available to you if you have been a victim of abuse in the Church or know someone who has:
-
If the victim is a child, immediately report the abuse to the Child Protection Agency (Hotline: 800800-5556) or a local law enforcement agency. Under Indiana law, it is a criminal act not to make such a report. This law applies to all adults without exception.
-
In addition, all cases of abuse in the Church, present or historical are to be reported to Doris May [Victim Assistance Minister and Head of Pastoral Response Team: (765) 464-4988] or Charles “Max” Layden [Conduct in Ministry Officer: (765) 742-7646].
-
A report may also be made by mail: Please compose a description of the facts/incidents of the abuse and send it to Mr. Max Layden, P.O. Box 909, Lafayette, IN 47902.
Please continue to join me in prayer and fasting, asking that Jesus restore order and sanctity in all levels of the Church. ~Fr. Clayton

This year in religious education, we will be introducing a new program called
“Circle of Grace.”
This successful program was designed by the Archdiocese of Omaha, Nebraska. God made us and wants us to have a healthy and loving relationship with Him. He wants us to have healthy and loving relationships with others, too. “Circle of Grace” teaches young people a whole body awareness of appropriate boundaries - spiritual, physical, emotional and sexual. The lessons will be led by Gina Hemersbach, a registered nurse. If you have questions about “Circle of Grace” or would like to sit in on those class sessions,
