Sport Relief Update You may remember that before half term the school supported Sport Relief through a sponsored run around the field and a cake sale. The initial amount of money raised on the day was a very impressive £350. However, now that all of the sponsorship money has been returned, I am exceptionally pleased to tell you that the final amount raised for Sport Relief by the children and families of our school is a staggering £1375! Wow! Thank you all so much for your support! Outdoor Learning in Year 1 This week St Piran Class were very lucky to be able to take part in the first of a series of ‘Forest School’ sessions. Mrs Jeffs is becoming a Forest School Practitioner and is doing some of her training with our Year 1s. This week the children had a fantastic time doing lots of fun activities in our wildlife area. They were making clay creatures and faces and also playing a game called ‘Meet the Tree’. Everyone loved the session and are really looking forward to next week’s session already!
Nut Free School Just a reminder that we are now a nut free school. Children must not bring nuts or other obvious nut products into school as part of their snack or packed lunch; this also includes packed lunches for school trips and cakes for the Friday sales. Thank you. RNLI Visit We had a visit from the RNLI this week to remind our children all about keeping themselves safe whilst enjoying our beautiful beaches. Being so close to Perranporth Beach, it is essential that our children hear these important messages every year. Don’t forget, ’respect the water’ and ’observe the flags’: Red and yellow flags Lifeguarded area. Safest area to swim, bodyboard and use inflatables. Black and white chequered flags For surfboards, stand-up paddleboards, kayaks and other non-powered craft. Launch and recovery area for kitesurfers and windsurfers. Never swim or bodyboard here. Red flag Danger! Never go in the water under any circumstances when the red flag is flying. Orange windsock Indicates offshore or strong wind conditions. Never use inflatables when the windsock is flying.
Lost Property Just a gentle reminder to parents to ensure that all items of school uniform are clearly named. Every year we end up with large amounts of clothing in our lost property area that has no name and is never claimed. If items are named it is obviously much easier to return lost property to its rightful owner. Can we also ask that parents regularly check that their child is not mistakenly wearing another child’s uniform. We frequently have issues when uniform is muddled up after PE sessions and after school clubs. This often results in children mistakenly taking another pupils uniform. Thank you.

New Member of Staff We welcome a new member of staff to the Perranporth Team this week. Mrs Morris joins us as a Teaching Assistant working in Trelawny Class (Y5). She is settling into her new role quickly and very much enjoying supporting the children with their learning. I’m sure you’ll all join us in making her feel very welcome. Volunteer Drivers Needed! As parents will already know, Perranporth School tries hard to participate in lots of extra curricular activities and events. Unfortunately, it is becoming more and more difficult to attend some events due to the lack of parent volunteers to help with transport. If you are a parent who is willing and available to be a volunteer driver and happy to support some school events, please could you contact the School Office so that we can form a list of possible drivers. We also need a volunteer driver who would be willing to help transport children to occasional sporting events in a school minibus. You must have the D1 category on your driving license but all training would be provided. If you would be willing to help, please contact the School Office. Thank you very much! After School Clubs After school clubs will begin next week. Sign up letters have already gone home. If you have not received one, please ask in the School Office for a copy.
