Ms. Taylor CSU Expository Reading & Writing // Serial Unit
Serial Final Assignment // 100 Points NO LATE/MAKEUP PRESENTATIONS. Throughout our Serial unit, you have been gathering and analyzing pieces of evidence to build your opinion of Adnan’s innocence or guilt. For your final assignment, you will be in groups presenting your “verdict” of Adnan’s innocence or guilt. Group Verdict PowerPoint Presentation: You be in assigned groups of three to four to determine Adnan’s innocence or guilt. As a group, you must come to a cohesive conclusion of guilty or innocent. You cannot be undecided for this assignment. Once you decide upon a verdict, create a 5-7-minute PowerPoint presentation that outlines at least five important pieces of evidence that led you to this conclusion. All group members must speak and participate equally. You will be graded as a group. You will also be evaluating each other as part of your grade. ❏ I encourage you to get creative with your presentations! Don’t bore your classmates! Look for video clips and images that relate to your findings. YouTube and Reddit (www.reddit.com/r/serialpodcast) are both excellent Serial resources. ❏ Use your episode handouts to choose supporting evidence. ❏ AVOID SPECULATION. Ex: “Adnan is innocent, because Jay is sketchy and killed Hae.” ←Where is the evidence from the podcast to support this? ❏ Presentations will occur: May 31st-June 3rd // Signups will be later this week

Tips from Ms. T: ● You are responsible for allocating enough time for your group to produce an engaging, quality presentation. Beware of procrastination and senioritis. ● Work positively together and set expectations/duties early on. Be proactive in preventing problems and disagreements. Group work is a part of life. Get used to it now. o If you’re concerned about group conflicts, contact Ms. T and she will mediate. ● Engage with the podcast--it’s great!--and put forth the highest quality. If you presentation is sloppily put together, clearly completed last minute, BS’d, etc--I WILL fail you, as you have failed yourself. ● You will have very little in-class time to work on this. So, ensure that you are communicating and working with your group members outside of class. ● Feel free to share your presentation via Google Drive to Ms. T:
