BACKGROUND:
The IT Department has undergone a radical transformation. IT now executes a mixture of on premise, Cloud and 3rd party sourced IT services, in an entirely new and modern IT infrastructure that utilises the latest technologies. The IT function serves 600 staff in NCIs and NCIs colocated bodies and aims to adopt common solutions across NCIs where practical. IT provides a broad range of customer focused IT services such as technical architecture and support, networks, change management, business analysis, project management, Training, Procurement, systems administration and applications hosting requiring a range of sophisticated and innovative skills.
JOB SUMMARY:
Contribute to and comply with the IT Technical Architecture, Roadmaps and Design Authority, develop and provide 1st,/2n//3rd line network support for a platform comprising Microsoft AD, Exchange, O365, RDP, CRM, SharePoint, BI, SQL Databases, Virtualisation with Hyper-V, Azure, VMWare, VCloud, Enterprise Storage, SCCM, Web Hosting and Voice and Data Networks, including telephony, broadband, internet, Wi-Fi and AV. Conduct impact assessments and maintenance checks, lead capacity management and provide reports and technical consultancy to IT colleagues, projects and 3rd parties..
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • •
Support the Head of Technical Architecture to implement and manage the Technical Architecture and associated IT Roadmap and perform the design authority role Provide network development, consultancy and operational support across a broad technology spectrum and new generation IT such as Palo Alto Firewalls, Aero Hive Wi-Fi access points, DarkTrace, Microsoft AD, O365, Windows Server, Hyper-V, Azure Cloud, VMWare, Hybrid IaaS Cloud, VMs, Telephony, AV, Voice & Data Networks, SCCM, network capacity and security, Web Hosting, File sharing, Backups, DR

Conduct a mix of network analysis and impact assessments and produce option appraisals, quotes, functional specifications and solution designs that deliver business requirements Ensure the 'as-is’ network landscape is captured and the 'to-be’ landscape is defined and considered before any procurement or development work on a requirement takes place Work with 3rd parties, projects and other IT colleagues to ensure network requirements are clearly understood, solutions are fit for purpose and service levels met Conduct daily, weekly and monthly maintenance checks and take the appropriate remedial action in conjunction with staff, users, senior management and change control processes Produce monthly and adhoc capacity management reports e.g. alerts, thresholds, cyber security, voice, data and internet link, guest & staff Wi-Fi, firewall and certificates status Create network standards and security documentation and work collaboratively with NCIs and IT colleagues/3rd parties engaged in IT projects, procurement, change, operations and support to ensure compliance and successful, high quality deliverables and outcomes for customers Keep abreast of developments in the IT industry to ensure solution architectures are in line with industry standard and innovations are monitored and researched for future added value

Essential Education: • A degree in IT • N+ & A+ • CCNP • CCDP Skills/Aptitudes: • Ability to contribute technical expertise to IT Strategy development, assure network security and create a network architecture schematic and roadmap from a business perspective • Ability to translate business requirements into successful IT solution designs • Proficiency in using good practice techniques for structured review and design of secure network systems, functional and technical specifications and technical documents, plans and scripts • Strong skills in delivering great service in secure, network infrastructure maintenance and support and managing test, release and deployment processes and activities successfully • Ability to work on own initiative, as part of a team, under pressure and to tight deadlines • Able to use reporting tools to produce performance and information management reports Knowledge/Experience: • Significant experience in developing, implementing and supporting IT networking solutions and providing integrated IT that operates on the core new generation technologies in use • A proven track record in providing consultancy and support to users, departments, IT colleagues, projects and 3rd parties and working collaboratively with each to deliver success • Knowledge of Technical Design Authority processes and working within such a framework 09/10/2018

Experience in writing and working with functional and technical specifications and business process alignments to provide the correct network designs and solutions for new or existing systems Experience in using reporting tools and providing management information reports on the capacity and performance of the network Experience in providing 3rd line support to resolve day to day incidents within SLAs, briefing other staff on network changes and providing knowledge transfer sessions to colleagues Experience in adhering to IT security standards such as ISO27001 or similar and dealing with cyber security incidents and resolutions Outstanding collaboration, communication and relationship building skills and minimal conflict in working relationships with others

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Starting Salary:
£48,000 per annum
Pension Contributions:
Non-clergy staff will be admitted to the Church Administrators Pension Fund (CAPF, DC Section). Clergy already in the Church of England Funded Pensions Scheme (CEFPS) will have the option of either remaining in this scheme or joining the CAPF scheme. There is no contracting – out certificate under the Pension Schemes Act 1993 in force for this employment in relation to the CAPF and CEFPS. Both CAPF and CEFPS members are contracted-in to the State Second Pension.

Hours of Duty:
Normal hours of work are 35 per week, Monday to Friday with an hour’s unpaid break for lunch.
Annual Leave:
25 days paid leave per leave year. This is exclusive of public holidays and additional holidays approved by your employer.
Season Ticket Loan:
Staff are eligible to apply for an interest-free travel season ticket loan for their journey to and from work.
Contract:
The post is offered on a 12-month fixed-term contract, subject to a onemonth probationary period.
