Dear Kids’ Club Families, Welcome to Thornton Creek Kids’ Club. My name is Lauren Patla and I will be your child’s Kids’ Club Head Teacher this year. I would like to take a moment to introduce myself. I am a graduate from Madonna University with a degree in Child Development. I have been working with Kids’ Club for two years and Preschool for one year. I have worked at Ridge Wood for three years and this will be my first year at Thornton Creek. Before coming to Northville Public Schools, I worked at a daycare center for three years with preschool aged children. Katie Krajewski will be the lead assistant and this is her third year working with Kids’ Club. Ms. Katie is currently getting her masters in psychology at U of M. The Kids’ Club program at Thornton Creek has continued to grow so we have split into two separate groups. Each group will have a separate staff team and sign in/out area for families. I am the Head Teacher of the 3rd through 5th grade group which is based in Room C-15. Morning Kids’ Club begins at 7:00a.m. and runs until 8:45a.m. when school starts. Afternoon Kids’ Club is from 3:45p.m. until 6:00p.m. Please remember that your child needs to be signed in if they are attending morning Kids’ Club and signed out at the end of the day if attending afternoon Kids’ Club. Key Fobs are required for entry into the building. Two key fobs are issued to each family. During Kids’ Club, there is a variety of activities for your child to participate in. Some activities include group games, art, reading, gym games and many other hands on activities. There will be time dedicated to homework for children who wish to work on their schoolwork. Along with room activities, we also give the children the choice of participating in gym and computer lab. When the weather cooperates, the children will be able to enjoy playing outside. For afternoon Kids’ Club, children will be offered a healthy snack during snack time. I will be sending out monthly newsletters to keep you informed on important deadlines and current events. If you need to contact me, please feel free to send me an e-mail. My e-mail address is
[email protected]. If your child has a change in schedule or will be absent from Kids’ Club on a specific day, please notify me via e-mail or send a note with your child. There will also be a notepad located near the sign in/out sheets, where you could note any changes in pick-up or schedule.
You may want to sign up for LISTERV if you haven’t already. By doing so, you will receive information via e-mail regrading important district and building level information. You can sign up by going to the NPS website: www.northvilleschools.org and click on the tab Families and Community/Email Subscription. Then complete the questions and check Early Childhood along with Thornton Creek. Early Childhood’s website: http://earlychildhood.northvilleschools.org Here you will find information including registration, deadlines, along with the Parent Handbook, Curriculum Guide and other information about our programs. I look forward to meeting everyone and to a great school year! Sincerely, Lauren Patla
