Dear Bowie Students and Parents: The 20162017 school year is almost here! I would like to share with you some very important information about Dawg Days of Summer. All students are expected to attend the “Dawg Days of Summer” before the first day of nd classes on Monday August 22 , 2016. The purpose of Dawg Days is to minimize the loss of instructional time by taking care of some “housekeeping” items. ● Dawg Days for 9th – 12th grade students begins August 8th and continues through August 11th. Students are assigned specific days and times to report for yearbook pictures, ID’s, outstanding textbook returns, and yearbook purchases. ● Parking permits for sophomores, juniors, and seniors can be purchased online at www.jbhs.org for $20.00, or $50 for senior reserved (eligibility required). Permits can be purchased during Dawg Days, but we encourage students to purchase them online from home. Computers will be set up for students to place orders if they choose to purchase them during Dawg Days. Obligations for textbooks must be cleared before applying for a parking permit. ● Obligations for textbooks or other school property must be cleared before school starts. If you have an nd obligation, you should clear it during Dawg Days, or you will not receive a schedule of classes on Aug. 22 until the obligation is cleared. ● Immunizations must be complete and uptodate. Copies of immunizations can be submitted during Dawg Days. Schedules of classes will be withheld on August 22nd for students with outofdate immunizations. ● YEARBOOK PICTURES. Photo Texas will be taking yearbook pictures. Please dress appropriately and according to dress code. You will also be able to purchase copies of your picture at this time. A copy of the order form is available on the jbhs.org website and you will need to bring a check for the appropriate amount made out to Bowie High School . Students must have their pictures taken by Photo Texas in order to be included in the yearbook. You do not have to order pictures to be included in the yearbook. This will also be the picture used for your student ID. Pictures will be taken in the library. Student Privileges Any student requesting privileges, such as the ones listed below, must be in good standing with the campus. “Good standing” denotes that a student has completed the following items: a. Cleared all excessive absences b. Have a current Naviance account c. Cleared textbook obligation
Types of Possible Privileges: ▪ Parking Permit (10th – 12th ) ▪ OffCampus Lunch (12th ONLY/requires signed parent permission slip available on website) ▪ Off Periods (11TH and 12th ) Station 1: School pictures and IDs – Library ● Yearbook Picture . Forms to order pictures will be available in the library at the time pictures are taken. The brochure is also located on the JBHS website. It is helpful to make a package selection prior to coming to Dawg Days. ● Please bring a check if you want to purchase your package the day your grade level attends Dawg Days of Summer . Checks are made out to Photo Texas. ● Purchase yearbook for $60 sale price through Friday, September 16th.
Station 2: Counselor Corner (Naviance) Library Computer Lab D108 ● Required for all grade levels o Naviance Registration (for all grades) Station 3: Textbooks / Parking Permits / Off campus privileges / Immunizations: AHall Textbooks: ● All obligations must be cleared and student must have a current student ID. ● Students will not be issued textbooks. Textbooks are available online. ● Check online at www.jbhs.org for textbook rules and procedures . Locker: ● Students are not required to have a locker. Bowie will not be checking out lockers. Parking Permits: 10th 12th Grade ONLY : ● Parking permits can be purchased online during Dawg Days or at home by visiting the link on the www.jbhs.org website. We will not be accepting cash or checks during Dawg Days. Credit cards only. ● Senior reserved parking may be purchased for $50 online. Eligible students must purchase reserved parking online as well as submit their design and contract at Dawg Days. Please refer to all instructions and guidelines under the attendance tab at JBHS.org. Check the listing for your name in front of the library during Dawg Days for parking space selection on August 19th. Off Campus Privileges: 12th Grade ONLY ● Bring a completed Senior Contract Form, signed by a parent or guardian , in order to receive off campus privileges.This form can be located on the www.jbhs.org website or one can be obtained in the main office. Immunizations: ● Only for students who need to update their immunization paperwork Items to bring with you to Dawg Days: Check to purchase pictures, unreturned textbooks, and signed off campus privilege form (Seniors only).
