Shining Socially (1 Peter 1:15-16)
Living a life that shines demands that one is faithful to God 24/7! When Peter was commanding us to be holy (sanctified or set apart), he said that this was to be done in “…all manner of living” (1 Pet. 1:15). There is not to be a separation between our “spiritual” lives and our “social” lives. It seems that this can be a difficult aspect for some to grasp. There are those who try to “justify” sinful behavior due to the fact that it is just “entertainment.” Let us open our Bibles and see what God has to say concerning shining in our social lives.
1. “What Shall I Wear?” A. As Christians, when we ask this question, there are some things that we ____________ consider: 1. Does my dress profess ____________________? (1 Tim. 2:9-10) 2. Even though modesty changes from culture to culture, God has given us information that will insure that our dress is godly. B. Living a life that shines will not provide opportunities for others to __________________. 1. An individual is responsible to guard his/her mind from impurity. (Phil. 4:8) 2. However, do I not have a responsibility to prevent stumbling? (Rom. 14:13) C. We must always ask ourselves the question: “Is what I am wearing causing me to shine?” 2. “What Shall I Do?” A. Living a godly life demands letting my light shine. (Matt. 5:14-16) 1. Does this apply to my ____________________? ABSOLUTELY! 2. There will never come a time in the life of a Christian where it is acceptable to God for one to “_____________” his/her light. B. To let my light shine means that my entire life reflects the majesty and glory of Christ! (Gal. 2:20) 1. Does it cross our minds that quite possibly the only knowledge many people will ever have of Christ is what they see in us? 2. People are going to watch us to see if we live in accordance with our profession to follow Christ. C. Do our ___________________ bring glory to God, or do they promote worldliness? (Matt. 7:16-20)

The Big Black Box Every 3rd Sunday evening, Jimmy will have a Questions & Answers session. You can submit Biblical questions by placing them in the Big Black Box in the foyer. These questions will be dealt with in the order they are received.
The Big Blue Box We, as Christians, need to show concern for our brethren and others. If you know of someone who needs checking on, has problems in their life, etc. write out the information and put it in the Blue Box in the foyer. David Martin is overseeing this good work.
Welcome Visitors We Welcome You and Thank You For Coming. We are honored by your presence. Please be sure to fill out a Visitors’ Card and sign our Guest Register in the foyer so that we may have a record of your attendance.
