Building Envelope and Water Intrusion Investigations – Various Sites in Texas and Florida Forensic Investigation Performed assessments of building envelopes, including forensic investigations associated with water intrusion concerns. Control Room of Petrochemical Facility in Oklahoma Structural Design – Blast Designed retrofits of existing cold-formed steel control room for specified blast loads. Retrofits included an additional bay, upgraded bracing, additional girts and purlins, upgraded metal panels, and new connections. Project included preparation of rough order of magnitude cost estimates and construction drawings. Structural Blast Consultant for Anti-Terrorism Force Protection (ATFP) of new VA Hospital Buildings in Texas Structural Analysis – Blast Analyzed the proposed structural design and made recommendations to increase the blast capacity of the buildings for the specified blast loads. Reviewed the proposed designs for compliance with VA requirements, including specified stand-off distances and location of pedestrian access points. Structural Resiliency Studies – Various Sites in Singapore Structural Analysis – Blast Analyzed new and existing structures to evaluate effect of specified intentional threats. Designed retrofits for components that did not pass the recommended criteria. Projects included an airport terminal and electrical substations. Offshore Petrochemical Facility in Mexico Incident Investigation Performed evidence collection/preservation and root cause analysis after an explosion. Responsible for on-site evidence collection, evidence preservation, and evidence analysis for root cause analysis efforts. Coordinated with local investigation team, offshore collection team, and home office analysis team. Offshore LNG Terminal Third-Party Design Verification Structural Analysis – Marine Performed structural analysis of concrete offshore LNG terminal under hydrodynamic, environmental, and accidental loads using finite element analysis. Ensured design complied with ABS, DNV, and IMO requirements. Achieving Service Life Program Structural Analysis – Marine Determined the remaining service life of US Navy vessels based on strength and fatigue assessments and then prioritized repairs to extend the estimated service life of the ships. Assessments included hull strength structural evaluations and finite element analysis under insitu conditions, taking into account the level of corrosion and the vessel’s sailing history. Marine Third-Party Design Verification – Various Projects Structural Analysis – Marine Performed structural analysis of new-build marine structures under hydrodynamic, environmental, and accidental loads using finite element analysis.
