AIFTT3 0923A - 11.30 Class
ATM ON BACK - TRANSMISSION FROM FEET TO HEAD part 2 Supine: feet bent, move pelvis from 6 to 12. With different m/m, activate and let go of pelvic floor. Pelvic floor connected to full skeletal movement. (Anke Feldmann) Discussion: Function of pelvic floor in relation to verticality Pelvic floor, diaphragm, larynx (root of the tongue) and upper palate have dome structure; helps to be upright. By working with feet and head we effect pelvic floor. The pubid ramus/rami are connected to sitting bones. Anke shows pelvic floor on plastic model. Letting go of pelvic floor as important as tonifying. Books: Erik Franklin, The Pelvic Power Judy Pippen and Barbara Bell (Feldenkrais Practitioners) CD: Pelvic Power with ATM lessons
AIFTT3 0924A - 12.45 ATM STABILITY IN SITTING part 3 Sitting on a stool: roll on sitting bones from 6 to 12. Connection with feet? Sitting on back/front of pelvis: go from 6 to 12; move elbows to front and back with or contrary 6-12 m/m. Circle around sitting bones; make 8 around both sitting bones. (Anke Feldmann) Lunch 13.15
AIFTT3 0925A - 14.55 Class Sensing the connection between C7 and pelvic floor Demo with Corine, sitting, A pressing through C7 to test stability. Supine: A at C’s head touching C7. C pushes with feet towards A and A answers C with same amount of push, observing transmission of force through spine. FI/Duet: Use FI techniques of last week to get spine and ribs more available to m/m. Tea 16.20
AIFTT3 0926A - 16.40 ATM ON THE KNEES BENT FOR PRAYER partial lesson On hands and knees: go backwards with toes long/toes tucked under. Lie on back while closing/widening sitting bones then come up initiating m/m from pelvic floor. Duet: A puts hands on B’s sitting bones; B sits back on heels; A senses folding in hips and observes mm in spine. Return to hands and knees & continue ATM: tuck toes under, feet closer, knees wider apart: lift R knee off the floor by turning the pelvis. Lift knees to the side. Bring knees to outside of hands. (AY 507)
Tuesday 22 February 2011 AIFTT3 0927A - 10.10 ATM PELVIC FLOOR RIGHT AND LEFT SIDE Sitting on a stool: rami/sitting bones? Supine, legs bent: imagine the midline front and back. Activate pelvic floor. Tilt legs to L/R in different combinations and come back by way of pelvic floor. Standing: depth of pelvis, freedom, differentiation? Sitting: move pelvis to 6 and 12. In different combinations, move on sitting bones. Move arms /turn from pelvis. Moving like this the same as when giving an FI. (Deborah Bowes) Coffee 11.10
AIFTT3 0928A - 11.25 Class Contact Improvisation - Giving and Taking Weight with partner Lab/Duet: A leans into B (while feeling feet), B leans back. Use entire body to lean into somebody, giving and taking weight. In this way, find more stability and strength for FI. Many older people lose relationship with weight and the floor. Talk about some books to read on the training The Thinking Body, Mabel Todd - chapter about breathing recommended.
The Potent Self, Chapter 17 - The Abdomen, the Pelvis and the Head is relevant to the theme of this segment.
AIFTT3 0929A - 12.40 Demo Demo with Karin – pushing and pulling the knees Test stability in sitting by pushing through C7 (like yesterday) while sensing pelvic floor. Supine: push and pull the knees. Following yesterday’s ATM: Move shoulders & taking K.’s hands in direction of opposite shoulder. Bring elbows to rest on each other. Move shoulder blade when lifting elbow and come under shoulder blade. Move arms U and D. Move elbows U and D. Elbows opening and closing like a mouth. Move freely from pelvis. Think of your own pelvic floor and sitting bones. Sitting: Test stability again. Lunch 13.10
AIFTT3 0930A - 14.40 [Not Recorded] Lab Exploring transmission in FI – following demo with Karin Duet: 1) A tests B in sitting by pushing through C7. 2) B lies supine: A pulls/pushes B’s (bent) legs. 3) A works with B’s arms like in ATM, finding transitions from feet to head. 4) A pulls/pushes B’s knees. 5) A works with B’s head/C7. 6) A tests B in sitting. Tea 16.40
AIFTT3 0931A 17.00 -17.20 ATM SITTING WITH TOWEL UNDER ONE SITTING BONE Sitting on stool, towel under one sitting bone: lift other side of pelvis with/without contracting pelvic floor. Variation in m/m and speed. Same m/m’s on other side. (Anke Feldmann)

Lengthen the back in different combinations: hands behind, head and shoulders move together and turn, head goes with pelvis or opposite; come F towards feet in turned position with back staying long. Make circles being F, while head stays to the side. Hands on legs and circle on sitting bones, staying long. (AY 288) Coffee 11.25
AIFTT3 0933A - 11.55 SPIFFER and constraint analysis of LENGTHENING THE BACK SPIFFER Sequence: elongating from arms brings m/m in upper chest/upper ribs. Path: forwards and U. Foundation: sitting with sides of legs on floor. Flow of m/m: how easy it goes? Effort: difficult m/m, keep effort low. Respiration: keep breathing with this difficult ATM. Constraints: sitting together with bent knees and heels together; R hand holding on R ankle; position of hand on floor; keeping head and pelvis. Lunch 12.55
AIFTT3 0934A 14.35 [Not Recorded] Class Demo with Mark: Mark has strain in lower back. Chest very lifted. Supine: 6-12 m/m with knees. Move pelvis U/ D. From head: touch and move ribs D. Differentiate shoulders and pelvis. Lift shoulders/C7/head connecting chest and stomach area, releasing effort in neck. Move arm and shoulder together (as in yesterday’s FI). Differentiate hip joints and lengthening the groin. This FI is
about stabilizing the pelvis, softening the chest (elongation), and becoming taller (force moving thru). Standing/walking: bigger, longer legs, rolling feet on floor. Tea 15.30
AIFTT3 0935A - 15.55 Class Demo with Elisabetta Supine: Finding neutral in hip joint. Leg bent, push heel into table. Come under front of foot/under metatarsals; also bend ankle a bit. Lift toes including 5th toe. Move toes U, bend ankle joint, allowing E to stand into heel. Push U to head speaking into leg/hip. 16.20-17.00 FI/Duet: the same as in Demo with Elisabetta
Thursday 24 February 2011 AIFTT3 0936A - 10.10 ATM SITTING ON THE TOES NEXT TO A CHAIR Stand, hold a chair at backrest/at seat, bend knees and ankles: take pelvis backwards and down with ‘ass’ to ceiling, while staying long. Variations: on knees/ both heels/ standing. Hands at seat, sit on heels, with heels closer and knees spread bring one knee/other knee/ both knees D and U, arching when going F and bending while going B. Touch chair at backrest, bend knees: move backwards: different? (AY 149) Coffee 11.20
AIFTT3 0937A - 11.45 Class Talk about intrinsic learning and FI working with the diagonals Feldenkrais work creates disturbances: part of learning! Intrinsic learning is about learning from inner standards, from what it does to you/what it brings you.
Many adults only live from external standards, having lost their inner sense of well being. SITTING ON TOES NEXT TO A CHAIR is a great for the feet toes tucking under improves the feet. Demo with Rose Marie Supine, working with the diagonals by pushing and pulling the knees, pushing from C7and lifting the shoulders. Demo on skeleton with m/m’s of FI. Which is the easier diagonal? Lift shoulder blade to move sternum/ribs. Lift leg so ball moves into socket. Move ankle joint, pushing into heel. Bring arm U along midline. Hand behind the head to lift head into diagonal. Support neck. Both diagonals. Sitting: look where person wants to sit by going a bit F & B. Lab/Duet 12.45 First round like in Demo on skeleton
AIFTT3 0938A - 11.45 Class Further explanation about pulling through diagonal Pull/push from the knees to/from C7. Pull through one knee into diagonal. To be continued after lunch… Lunch 13.35
AIFTT0938A continued - 15.15 [Not Recorded] Lab/Duet continued Tea 16.20
AIFTT3 0939A - 16.45 ATM Teacher: Caro van Iersel TWISTING AND BENDING THE SPINE SITTING ON A CHAIR Sitting: sitting bones, rami, spine, weight?
