About the Department The Pathways Program sits within the Sector and Community Partnerships area. The Pathways Program comprises a range of projects that work to establish employment and education pathways for young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds. By supporting young people through education options, work experience, traineeships and apprenticeships in growth industries in Victoria, we connect them to invaluable networks and systems that help to solidify their work prospects for the future. The Pathways program engages volunteers with Australian work experience and skills to share and works 1:1 with young people in the program. In addition, the Pathways Program works with employers to create and sustain employment opportunities for young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds. POSITION SUMMARY: The Project Officer – Employment Pathways is responsible for recruitment, supervision and support of the volunteer mentors who engage with young people involved in the Pathways to Employment program. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and maintain appropriate systems and procedures for the recruitment, screening, support and supervision of Pathways volunteers that accord with CMY policies and best practice in volunteer management.
Screen and recruit volunteers for the relevant Pathways projects, including conducting information sessions and volunteer selection interviews.

Work collaboratively with the Multicultural Youth Worker and other relevant Pathways staff to support young people with trained volunteers to provide support in seeking and succeeding at employment pathways and to ensure that volunteers are appropriately matched to young people.
Supervise and support volunteers, this includes regular communication with mentors, holding volunteer support meetings and providing the relevant resources to best support volunteers in their role.
Request, review and process monthly reports completed by volunteers, determine relevant actions, provide appropriate feedback and support to volunteers as required.
Promote employment opportunities to volunteer mentors and young people as relevant.
Work with the Pathways Program Leader and Multicultural Youth Worker to support team efforts to securing employment outcomes for program participants. Provide input to improve Pathways Program processes, structure and approach as a team
Work across teams within CMY to support the development and execution of volunteer mentoring programs for jobseekers outside of the Pathways to Employment program.
Establish and maintain appropriate referral protocols for young people that require additional support that is outside the scope of the volunteer role or Pathways program.
Undertake written work including documentation of program delivery, volunteer case notes relating to screening, training, assessment and ongoing support of program volunteers, promotional materials, and contributions to evaluations, funding and project reports as required within required timeframes.
Participate in Pathways team meetings and other workplace staff meetings.
Represent CMY within regional community and stakeholder networks.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA:
Demonstrated experience in project implementation, including well-developed organisational and administrative skills, the ability to plan and manage an effective work program and meet deadlines and the capacity to be flexible.
Demonstrated experience working with volunteers and an understanding of best practice volunteer management principles with an ability to provide guidance to professional volunteer mentors.
Well-developed interpersonal and cross cultural communication skills with proven ability to liaise with a diverse range of people including young people, families, communities, volunteers and external organisations.
Knowledge of youth unemployment and strategies that support effective pathways for young people, with a particular understanding of issues relevant to refugee and migrant background young people.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline (Social Sciences, Community Development, Youth Work, Education) and/or other relevant discipline.
