Our Mission - WE, the people of Our Lady of Consolation Parish guided by the Holy Spirit and nourished by the Eucharist, pledge to continue the mission of Jesus Christ who announced the reign of God. We accept His challenge to proclaim the Good News of salvation that Jesus, the Christ, died for us, and in Him we have life to the fullest measure. We seek to live as He lived, in service to others, building a community of faith and hope, with God’s grace as our strength and the peace of Christ our heart’s desire. A Parishioner is - one who is registered and participates in the liturgical life of the parish and demonstrates their support, as reflected in the Parish Mission Statement, by completing and fulfilling an annual Stewardship Commitment of Time, Talent and Treasure.
A Message of Hope Dear Parishioners, This is the third Sunday in Ordinary Time. The liturgical year consists of two major seasons, Christmas (Advent and Christmas) and Easter (Lent and Easter), the remainder of the year is considered Ordinary Time. The first period of Ordinary Time begins the Sunday after the Epiphany and continues until Ash Wednesday. The second period of Ordinary Time begins the day after Pentecost Sunday and continues until the Saturday before the first Sunday of Advent. In today’s Gospel according to Mark, Jesus invites Simon and his brother Andrew and James and his brother John to abandoned their nets and follow Him, “Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men.” How often has Jesus invited us to follow Him by sharing our gifts of Time, Talent and Treasure and how have we responded? How do we see, and welcome, Jesus into our lives each day? Is He that casual acquaintance that we greet superficially or at all! Is He the one we call upon only in time of need or does He have a special place within our hearts, reserved for those we truly love? Jesus is welcomed into our lives, when we share His gifts to us with others. God has given each of us something to do in our lives that no one else can do. It is His gift to us and our return gift to Him. May He give us the grace to find that special gift and respond to His call to follow Him. May this New Year be filled with Joy, Happiness and Good Health!

This Lent we will be holding "Lenten Soup Night" to help support our sister parish,
St. Paul's in San Pablo, Ecuador. Lenten Soup Night is a six-week program that will take place every Wednesday during Lent. The Wednesdays of Lent have been selected as an extension of the usual Friday penance. We ask that your family share in a sacrificial meal of meatless soup, then donate the equivalent of what you would have spent on an evening meal. All donations collected go to San Pablo to help feed the undernourished people of their parish.
How you can help: 1. Be a “cook”. We need cooks to prepare six quarts of soup during the entire six weeks, or any single week. All you have to do is sign up at any mass; you will be given the recipe and containers to bring back your six quarts of soup on Wednesday before 3:00 pm to the Parish Center. (Exceptions can be arranged for your convenience). You supply the ingredients as your donation. 2. Be a "participant". We need families to share in our Wednesday Soup Nights and enjoy the soup. a. Order forms are available at all masses. You can sign up for all six weeks or one week at a time. b. On the Wednesdays that you signed up, you can pick up your soup at the Parish Center between 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. and donate the money that you would usually spend on a meal with your family. c. Check donations can be made payable to "Ecuador Quilt". 3. For those not ordering soup…Be a "SPONSOR". You can help feed the children of San Pablo by making a donation. All checks should be made payable to "Ecuador Quilt" and may be dropped off at the Parish Center. Donations are tax deductible. For more information, contact MaryAnne Deregibus (973) 839-4011.
