MAUNU SCHOOL NEWSLETTER 15 Thursday 27 September 2018 Dear Parents and Caregivers, Greetings to you all, Salvete, Salutari, Beannachdan, Whakatauki: Me mahi tahi tatou mo te oranga o te katoa. We should work together for the wellbeing of everyone. This is the last newsletter of term 3. The year is flying by and another busy and successful term is coming to an end. The Maunu students have been extremely busy again this term, with many groups and individuals striving for Excellence and showing Responsibility. I am proud to be involved with students, staff and community who get involved, have a go, and do their best to “be their best”. We believe in being “service minded” and I can assure you that the students at Maunu School are committed to being positive members of society and have a dedication to being the best they can be. Excellence: Monday’s assembly was a celebration of Excellence (a Five Feather Value). We heard from the choir and the Feather Beats (African drummers). We celebrated: the efforts of the cross country runners at school, Whangarei and Northland level; the fine achievement of the school’s rugby league team coming 4th in Northland; all our Values winners; the Lit Quiz winners from the school Lit Quiz. What a great celebration of Excellence!!! Welcome to Rachel Seakins who will teach in Rm 15 for term 4. Room 15 is being set up in part of the Library for term 4 to accommodate the new entrants we have joining the school. We welcome all the new students and Mrs. Seakins to this great place. A major school and community event in term 4 is the Country Fair. This has become something of an institution in the Whangarei community calendar. However, it doesn’t just happen on its own. There is a small, enthusiastic and hard working group who have been working toward this since the beginning

of the year. But… THEY NEED YOUR HELP!! This event raises funds to support the school, with the 2018 focus being Outdoor Environments. Please think about how you could get involved (helping in the lead up, sponsoring, or helping on the day) and contact the school office. Remember, many hands make light work. We look forward to a wonderful term 4.
