LOOKING AHEAD Mustangs Of The Week: Congratulations to the Arleta Lady Mustangs Girl's Basketball Team who won their first round of the Girl's Basketball playoffs against Huntington Park by a score of 61-20. Student Section: Attendance Challenge, “BE CHURRO TO STAY IN SCHOOL”: Mustangs here is your first attendance challenge for the year, "Be Churro to Stay in School." Students who have 0 absences from Friday, January 13, 2017 to Friday, February 21, 2017, will earn yummy churros and hot chocolate. What a great way to start the new year; motivated to come to school, have a fresh new start and ready to seize all the opportunities for academic success. Grad Nite Requirements: Mustang Seniors in order for you to buy your Grad Nite Tickets you must have the following requirements:  Good Attendance  No Debts for textbooks, candy and Senior Package.  Good Citizenship  Passed Advisory Mester 1 and Mester 2  Completed Service Learning  “C” Grade Average Those who owe and have not purchased their Senior Package will be placed on the Debt List. Grad Night Tickets: Tickets for Grad Night will be sold near the Mustang Student Store area by Leadership students. Reminder all debts need to be clear before ticket sales ends including Service Learning. Ticket sales will be from Tuesday, February 21, 2017 through Friday, March 10, 2017. Tickets start at $110.00 and will go up five dollars every week. No tickets will be sold to anyone on ANY Debt List, so make sure you clear your debts beforehand. Winter/Spring Pep Rally 2017: Hey Mustangs, get ready to honor our winter and Spring Mustang sports at our Pep- Rally that is being held in Dr. Calvo Theatre on Friday, March 03, 2017. KYDS Afterschool Snacks: Attention all students: If you get snack after school, it must be eaten in the student dining area only. If you do not finish it, it must be thrown away. The snack cannot be taken to classrooms or the athletic fields. Please put any trash you have in the trash cans to keep the campus clean. Thank you! KYDS Yoga Class: Yoga class will now be held on Wednesdays and Thursdays after school from 3:45 to 5:15 in room B101, the mediation room. If you would like to participate, check in C204 to see if you need a KYDS registration form. Prom Fashion Show Male Models Applications: Attention Male Seniors! Prom Fashion Show male models applications are now on line! If you are interested in walking the runway with your fellow classmates head down to the Arleta High School Website under ASB and fill out an application. Remember to turn it in to Ms. Soliz in room B226 by March 03, 2017.

Language In Action Program: Are you an English Learner? Do you want to go on a field trip? The Language in Action Program will be starting again. Sessions will start Tuesday, January 24, 2016 and will take place every Tuesday after school in B104. You get to practice English while playing games. You also will earn artifacts. Turn in your application to Ms. Hudson in room A125 as soon as possible. Locker Room Hours: Students and Teachers the Locker Rooms are closed during the period. They are only open the first 10 minutes of the beginning of class and the last 10 minutes of class. We have students wanting to go to their lockers for books/notebooks during the period. Thank you, the PE Department. weUpstanders Meeting: Interested in helping others stay positive? Do you want to spread goodness? Want to prevent physical, emotional, and cyber-bullying? If the answer is YES, then join the weUpstanders every Monday form 3:30 p.m. 4:30 p.m. in Mr. Perez- Roman’s Room B207. Remember, “I Stand, You Stand, We All Stand Against Bullying.” Volunteer Bilingual Peer Tutors Needed: Hey students! Are you bilingual? Are you earning excellent grades? Then consider lending a helping hand by becoming a Bilingual Peer tutor. We have tutoring classes available before school and after school. You can earn artifacts for your portfolio. By volunteering to be a bilingual peer tutor, you’d be assisting English Learners with their academics. For more information, see Roxana De Paz in Leadership or Mrs. Guzman, TSP Coordinator in A112. Military Representatives: Every 2nd Wednesday of each month is Military Information day. There will be Military representative here in the College Center. Visit them during both lunches in order to retrieve more information about our United States Armed Forces. Beachy Gate Exit with “Home” Period: All students with a “Home” period 3 or 4 must exit campus through the Beachy Gate only. Hall Pass and Restroom Policy: Students are not allowed out of class the first and last 20 minutes of each period. The restrooms in the Gym will be open after school. The restrooms located in the middle of each B building floor will be open during passing period only. The restrooms adjacent to the Mustang Theatre will be open during class time. School Rules/Policies: The Dress Code, Electronic Device Confiscation rules and all other policies will be enforced immediately upon entering our campus. Advisory and Lunch Dismissal: To minimize the overcrowding of stairwells - all 9th and 12th grade students enter through the side stairwells of the B building after lunch. Additionally, all 10th and 11th grade students exit to the lunch area through the center stairwell of the B building only. Debts: Textbook debts, Library debts, Candy-drive debts, and Athletic Uniform debts were carried over from last year. All students who owe a debt must pay it off. If you owe any debts see the following people listed to clear your debt:  Textbook - Mr. Hayes, VAPA Office  Library - Ms. Hein, Library  Candy - Mr. Jimenez, Student Store  Athletic Uniform - Athletic Coach Any student who owes a debt will not be allowed to participate in co-curricular activities. Staff Section: Marvelous Mustang Staff! Congratulations for the tremendous job you do to educate our Mustang students. Our LAUSD Superintendent Michelle King, Local Superintendent Linda Del Cueto and other Local Superintendents were amazed and impressed by the extraordinary work you do here for our Mustang students! Thank you, the PE Department. 5 Column Rosters: As mentioned in your SLC Meetings and the 5 Column Roster memos we have a new procedure for submitting attendance. We are asking teachers to take attendance on both MISIS and 5 Column Rosters for each one of their classes. This procedure will assist us in case of accidentally missed attendance submittals, MISIS glitches and audit purposes. Every Friday please send the attendance folder with your rosters to your SLC Office by 2:15 p.m. and on Monday you will receive a new set on of 5 Column rosters in your mail boxes. Your SLC Secretary will keep your rosters for record keeping purposes. Thank you for your support and cooperation. MISIS Roster and new enrollees: If a student still does not show up on your MISIS roster after 3 days or more, please inform your SLC office.
