New Medical Biology Concentration
This Fall a new BS Biology Concentration will be operative. This is the Pre‐ medicine/Pre‐osteopathy/Pre‐dentistry Concentration (Subject to final approvals). The concentration is specifically designed for those wishing a career in medicine or other medical or health‐related degrees. It will help students to clearly identify the coursework that a BS Biology major with an interest in one of the health care career endpoints should take. Please see your faculty advisor if you would be interested in this major. Changes in Course Numbers Three courses have been shifted to upper division to better reflect the expected level of grounding in biology, difficulty, and to establish equivalency with companion courses.

GPS (Graduation Planning System) Coming sometime (or in 2010… maybe); the GPS (Graduation Planning System). Imagine a computer program that tracks every student from their first class until graduation. It is designed to give the student an individualized guidebook, called a Roadmap, that tells them when they should have taken certain courses and when they are off‐track. Sound good? Glad you like it. Sound possible? We’ll all have to wait and see. Will this eliminate the need of faculty advisors? Not hardly. The roadmaps already exist, at least on paper. We’ve been working on the BSCI ones for a year. If you would like to see what you should have done or still could do, see your faculty advisor in the Fall.
