Corner Counselor Advocates Royal Education Suggestions for a successful student: The holidays are a fun and joyous time, but it can also cause stress and anxiety in children. Try and keep things as relaxed as possible and take steps to lower your own stress and anxiety. Try and maintain some routines and include some quiet, calm activities especially before bedtime. Have a happy holiday season. Student Council News: Halloween was such a success. Here is a picture of the grade three teachers who show such spirit for the occasion as one of the campfire favorites – graham cracker, marshmallow and chocolate. We were also very fortunate to have Mr. Frank De Lima who spoke to all our students to promote positive attitudes and values.

The experts from Queens Medical Center were here to answer questions and present helpful information on proper nutrition. The team from Island Starr LLC. were here as well to give parents information on how to handle stress and insight into the major causes of stress. Mahalo to the parents who attended this workshop! If you missed this one, don’t worry, our next Ohana Time is scheduled for February 18th, mark your calendars and plan on attending! The PTA would like to say a huge MAHALO to all those who participated in the Regal Food Fundraiser! It was a huge undertaking but with the help of supportive teachers, parents, families and students, we raised over $10,000 for our school! These funds will go toward continued support in school programs, activities, field trips and maintenance for our school’s air conditioning units! ELL News
During our Parent Teacher Conferences in October, the Bilingual School Home Assistants (BSHA) helped parents of ELL students to better understand their child’s progress in school. The teachers’ explanations of student work, assessments, progress reports, and GLOs were translated into parents’ native languages. Parents were able to ask questions and obtain information about their children through the interpreters making communication and discussions easier to understand. The annual Ell assessment will be given to ELL students in grades K to 5 during January and February. More information will be sent home. GLOing update from the Vice Principal Aloha Parents, As first semester comes to a close and we continue into the holiday season, we will continue to focus on those feelings of safety and security in the classroom and on campus.
