THE FBLA Chapter at SPHS is working with Walking Shield, to provide Holiday gifts for the Native American children of the Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians. Please bring in your gently used, clean, clothing and we will distribute the clothing with the backpacks for the adopted children. We are also accepting donations of books, toys (non-electronic), warm clothing, jackets, and hygiene items for these children. Bring your donations to room 513 before or after school, and be a part of this special service project. Donations will be accepted all this week!

It's that time of year again!!! Cub Scouts Pack 139 Halloween Carnival: Friday, 10/30 from 3:30 – 5:30 PM, Monterey Hills School – 1624 Via Del Rey. The Pack 139 Halloween Carnival is a long-standing tradition at Monterey Hills School and includes old fashioned carnival games, a haunted house, entertainment, carnival food, and more. We are seeking high school volunteers to run our games, face painting, help with the haunted house and everything else. The carnival is Pack 139’s biggest fundraiser of the year and helps fund various activities for our Cub Scouts. Our Halloween Carnival is largely dependent upon parent and student volunteers, so your participation for service hours is a vital key to its success! South Pasadena Police Department is seeking to secure 12-15 volunteers to assist with monitoring the obstacle courses at the Bicycle Rodeo on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at the South Pasadena Middle School parking lot off Fair Oaks. Volunteers would be required to give brief instructions on how to navigate the course and then standby to assist the riders or pickup cones if they get knocked over. There are six events, so the volunteers would be grouped in pairs. Volunteer hours are from 7:00 am until about 6:00 pm. Students interested in signing up to volunteer can email

The Pasadena Ronald McDonald House encourages support from the local community. Ways to help include: Group service projects and House Tours, Supply drives (canned food, toys, books, DVD’s, pull tabs, office and cleaning supplies), Volunteer opportunities for students 14 years of age or older, and Participation opportunities in events like Walk for Kids, Sunday, April 3, 2016. Become a Jaycee Intern! The Junior Chamber of Commerce Youth gives citizens, under the age of twenty-one, a chance to develop their networking and project management skills through community service projects. They will observe Board and committee meetings and volunteer with Jaycees and like-minded students, while learning to become young leaders of the community. Jaycee Youth Interns will receive a certificate of achievement and a letter of recommendation from the current president of the Pasadena chapter.
