NAUDITT’S NOTES: Dear Parents, I hope that you are making plans to attend Family Fun Night tomorrow! This is a wonderful event that I know is eagerly anticipated by students. I am looking forward to spending many happy hours (?) in the cake walk, hoping to bring home some goodies for my family. Gary Plett will be on hand at the Curriculum Fair/Spaghetti Dinner on Tuesday, May 19. He is hoping to take pictures of parents for the password secured parent directory on the website. Our Title I teacher from Central Valley, Vickie Dawson, will be having an open house for her program on May 20, 2009 in the Spokane Valley Library (12004 E. Main) from 4-5 p.m. If your child works with Mrs. Dawson, please make plans to attend this meeting and participate in for some fun activities, a snack, and a quick tour of the children’s area of the library. Your child will receive some books (courtesy of the Title 1 reading program) he/she can take home and keep for summer reading! You can contact Mrs. Dawson if you have any questions - 228-4693. Speaking of the public library, they are offering wonderful summer programs this year! For students in grades K-5 there will be opportunities for students to learn about amphibians, make crafts, go to a concert, and more. For teens (grade 6 and up) there will be creative writing workshops and a chance to flaunt their inner fashionista. They will also have story time for little ones (age 5 and under). All of these programs are in addition to the Summer Reading Program that they have traditionally sponsored. For more information come into the library after June 1 or check out the web site www.summerreadingspokane.org At the auction we were able to collect over $14,000 in donations for the fund an item to put a new flexible coating on the upper unit roof! (The winter was very hard on the old roof coating and we had some leakage. This is not to be confused with structural damage with our roof, though.) The bid for the roof coating is $22,000, so we still need another $8000 to be able to complete the repairs over the summer. To this end we are trying a new approach to raise the additional funds – putting the ‘fun’ back into fundraising with a “special” lemonade stand. Please check out the flyer in the Bell explaining this project and look for us at Family Fun Night to find out more about how you can help! Peace, Lauri Nauditt P.S. Someone turned in a volunteer hour slip for baking cookies/brownies for the cake walk, but there was no name on it. I can’t give you credit if I don’t have a name.
