28th July 2016 - Week 1 Term 3
Dear Parents, Welcome to a very busy term three. With three good days already behind us it’s time for some reminders. Buses: It is most helpful that we get the message that your child has a change for the bus. Many thanks to all parents and children, who are doing that already. Kids for Kids: 15th August all day. Your child/ren should know if they are attending this event by now. Notices are out and we are busy sorting out the transport, so transport notices need to be handed to the Office as soon as possible. Apologies for the lateness in getting out the notice and advising of ticket buying arrangements. Just to clarify all of the children involved in singing in the choir do not need to purchase tickets. Abel Tasman Drive traffic speed signs: new 40 kph signs have been installed and they operate each school day for 45 minutes before 9am and 45 minutes after 3pm. Golden Bay Primary School Cross Country: The whole school will be taking part and will travel by buses out to Collingwood. A notice with more details will be emailed out. Tackle 7’s: 16th August at Takaka Primary. The team is: Riley O, Will, Yoshi, Jack H, Xavier, Charlie, Lief, Archie, Hugo, Jack P, Jaxson and Riley W. Assembly: the next assembly is Wednesday 3rd August. Miniball: this starts next Tuesday 2 August. My apologies that the following boys were left off a team: Aonghus Garbutt—Thunderbolts and Jack Poole-Hargreaves—Breakers. Thanks Nick Farr (Acting Principal) Principals Awards Principal Awards this week to Riley W for a fantastic speech and Taylor V for an awesome drawing of a sky tower. Also a special mention to Charlie in Room One who gained a Principals award at the last assembly. Well done. Rugby Reps At the recent Rugby Rep Trials, Riley O gained a place in the Under 11’s Country Rugby Representative Team. Well done Riley. Golden Bays Primary Schools Cross Country On Friday the 12th August all of our children we will be travelling to Collingwood Area School to participate in the Golden Bay Primary Schools Cross Country. This event involves all our children. We will leave School at 9.40am and briefing will start in Collingwood at 10.30am with races starting shortly after. Races will be in age order. Prize giving will be after the last race ends, then we will travel back to school by bus. Children may travel home with their parents but only if the parent has signed their child out with Nick. Reminders: All children must wear school t-shirts, shorts and suitable running shoes. Bare feet will not be allowed as we expect rough gravel roads and wet muddy paddocks, fences, ditches, sealed roads and a few obstacles thrown in. Oh what fun! All children will need lunch and a drink bottle (water recommended) . Make sure your child has clearly named warm clothing for before and after their event. CAS will be fundraising by selling Sausages and Juicies outside their staffroom all day—please support them. Thank you for supporting this popular annual event.
Please bring sports shoes and shorts to school every day for cross country training
