1. Name, Office, Contact Info 2. In New Mexico, decline-to-state voters (independents) can't vote in primary elections, even though their tax dollars helped to pay for them. Would you
sponsor or vote for a bill that allows decline-to-state voters (DTS) to choose between a Republican or Democrat primary ballot? 3. The ballot access requirements for independents in New Mexico are higher than any other state. Would you sponsor or vote for a bill that supports an equal number of ballot access signatures for all candidates regardless of party affiliation? 4. Competitive elections mean that the primary and the general election are contested races. New Mexico has the fewest number of competitive elections in the nation. Would you sponsor or vote for a bill that supports an independent, nonpartisan redistricting commission so that every ten years boundaries are drawn in a way that is as demographically fair as possible in order to keep political parties and special interests from trying to produce redistricting maps that unfairly favor a portion of the electorate or the incumbent? 5. Nebraska has had a system for over 60 years where all voters register and vote on a non-partisan basis and the top-two vote getters in a primary election move to the general election. Would you sponsor or vote for a bill that mandates non-partisan voter registration and implements a "top-two" system? 6. FOR CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATES ONLY: U.S. Congressmen John Delaney (MD-6) recently re-introduced the Open Our Democracy Act. The bill would enact Top Two non-partisan primaries for all congressional elections in the United States. Will you co-sponsor this bill? 7. FOR CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATES ONLY: Would you support a national effort to remove the presidential nomination process from the parties and move to a national or regional presidential direct vote primary system?
