Notice of Commencement Environmental Screening of Diesel Power Generation for the Enwave Energy Corporation - Pearl Street Energy Centre Peak Shaving Project Enwave Energy Corporation (the Proponent), is proposing to operate an existing diesel generator at 120 Pearl Street in Toronto, Ontario (the Facility) (see map) for peak shaving activities. The existing diesel generator is currently operated during utility outage or during specific electrical maintenance activities. The diesel generator is proposed to be used on a periodic basis to provide up to 2.250 megawatts (MW) of power to the Facility during peak electricity demand periods when there is excessive strain on the Ontario electricity grid. It is estimated that the generator will be used for approximately 250 hours per year. The only construction activities associated with the project is to support pollution control. Under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act and supporting regulations, the project is subject to the Environmental Screening Process for electricity projects. Enwave Energy Corporation is commencing a review under the Environmental Screening process, which includes an examination of the project’s potential effects on the environment, development of suitable measures to mitigate potential effects and consultation with Aboriginal groups, the public and other potentially affected stakeholders.
