JANUARY 2016
HAPPY NEW YEAR! We Want to Wish All of our Wooden Athletic Fund Supporters a Healthy and Happy New Year!
“THANK YOU” FROM THE BRUINS Ryder Roberts Junior · Men’s Water Polo “If I were to thank our donors for one thing, it would have to be for helping carry on the UCLA Athletics legacy. With this last [Men’s Water Polo] championship, UCLA now has a total of 113 National Championships, and as you all know, this is more National Championships than any other school in the country. Without our donors' generosity, this would not be possible. So I and every athlete here at the best university in the world thank you for being a part of this legacy.” CLICK HERE TO SUPPORT UCLA MEN’S WATER POLO
NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP #113 FOR UCLA Men’s Water Polo Completes Undefeated Season with NCAA Title In a sweet 10-7 victory over the #3 ranked USC Trojans, the UCLA Men’s Water Polo team won their second consecutive NCAA Championship at their home pool at UCLA’s Spieker Aquatics Center on December 6. Led by former UCLA Men’s Water Polo standout (1997-2001) and three-time Olympian Head Coach Adam Wright, the Bruins ended their season with a 30-0 record, the first undefeated season for the UCLA Men’s Water Polo team since 1969. This was the Bruin Men’s Water Polo program’s 10th title, and it added one more national championship to UCLA’s 112 to make our total 113—the most of any university in the United States.

UCLA ATHLETICS’ COMPLIANCE CORNER Football Signing Day Reminder Please Leave Recruiting to the Coaches The upcoming February 3 signing day for football is now on Bruin fans’ minds. Traditional media, Internet blogs and social media will be outlets for information and discussion on where recruits will be signing. As UCLA supporters, please remember that recruitment of prospective student-athletes is the sole responsibility of the UCLA coaching staff, and boosters may not be involved in the recruiting process. NCAA rules forbid booster contact with the prospect or anyone associated with the prospect in an effort to persuade them to attend UCLA. Please be mindful of the following: 1. No face to face contact, phone calls, emails, texts or tweets can be made to a recruit, their family or friends with a recruiting purpose. 2. UCLA boosters are not permitted to use social networking websites, including Twitter, Facebook or Instagram to contact or otherwise attempt to correspond with prospects. 3. Boosters may not initiate or accept “friend” requests of prospects on Facebook and should never post to a prospect’s “wall” or take any other action that would constitute contacting that prospect. This restriction includes using the inbox/email feature on Facebook and “@replies,” “mentions,” “tweeting” or “retweeting” on Twitter. 4. You cannot provide prospects with anything of value (cash, loans, gifts, services, etc.) that might be considered an inducement to persuade them to enroll at UCLA. Is it permissible for a UCLA donor to contact a prospect or his/her parents after the signing of an NLI? No. A booster may not call, text or email a prospect or his/her parents even if the purpose of the call is only to congratulate the prospect on signing with UCLA. This restriction also applies to social media websites such as Facebook or Twitter. Please contact the UCLA Athletics Compliance Office with any questions you may have. Our Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance, Dan Goldberg, is available for such inquiries and can be reached directly at (310) 794-8813 or
[email protected]. Follow UCLA Compliance on Twitter at @UCLACompliance
