Movie Poster Assignment (Part 1) Create a poster for a movie about your life (or how you wish your life will be, even if not realistically possible!) Use the layer masking technique described on pages 46-47 of your book to blend 2 or more images together. The images should appear to be fading into one another. You will need to include a portrait of yourself in this poster. Remember the movie posters you have studied in class, and how the artist used color, contrast, direction, and balance to lead the viewer on a “tour” of his or her canvas. Remember, also how text was colored and placed to be easily readable or unreadable, at the artist’s discretion! Shown below are some of the posters we discussed in class. Due Tuesday, March 16, 2010: A folder on your desktop containing your poster creation. Filenames Folder: username_poster files PSD file username_poster JPEG file username_poster Message me to collect your folder. If you really need extra time, you must turn in what you have done so far, with a brief note stating why it will be late, and when you expect to finish. Everyone needs to turn in SOMETHING, even if you have excused absences, or were summonsed out of the classroom. If nothing is turned in today, you will have a zero, and will not be able to make up the work. 100 points. Points will be deducted for the following: • You haven’t included an image of yourself in the composition • No masking technique used • All layers have been flattened (some merging is OK) • Background layer missing • Wrong filenames • No JPEG • No PSD file • No movie title or text as part of the composition • No evidence of balance of colors or shapes • Poor contrast*; text not readable*, unintentionally blurred images *If INTENTIONAL, you must be able to explain why.
