¡Bienvenidos a la clase de español 1P! GO MARAUDERS!
Description: Spanish 1P is an introductory class to learning the Spanish language and the Spanish speaking countries as well as their cultures. Students will concentrate mainly on obtaining communicative fluency in the target language leading to some proficiency and understanding and application of grammatical aspects. This will be a fun experience and it will contribute to your ability to understand and speak more Spanish in a shorter amount of time. Do not be afraid to make mistakeseveryone will make many mistakes, it is OK.
Course Procedures: ❖ All students must be working on “5 al día” as soon as the tardy bell rings. ❖ During the week, we will learn vocabulary, do verbal and written activities as well as use games, songs, and technology as a tool to learn the target language. ❖ A daily class agenda will be written on the whiteboard which you MUST write down on your Student Handbook/Calendar as soon as you finish with “5 al día”. ❖ Completed homework will be stamped the next school day after it’s assigned. Students that have an excused absence may make up the missed work/assignments upon returning to school and must show homework to teacher for a stamp. ❖ Students may make up missing/late assignments for half credit; must be completely finished to receive points. (Late assignments must be labeled as LATE!!!)
Class Rules: 1. FOLLOW ALL TEACHER’S INSTRUCTIONS: PARTICIPATE!!! BE PREPARED!!!! BE ATTENTIVE!!! WRITE NOTES!!!!! 2. SPEAK SPANISH ONLY: Students and teacher will speak only Spanish, this includes any chit chat. IT IS REQUIRED THAT ALL STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN ALL VERBAL ACTIVITIES!!! These

are YOUR PARTICIPATION POINTS!!!!! We will use the last three (3) minutes of class to explain homework and ask questions in English if necessary. 3. BE RESPECTFUL: BE KIND!!!! BE ON TIME!!! DRESS APPROPRIATELY!!! USE “POR FAVOR” (PLEASE) and “GRACIAS” (Thank you). No PHONES!!!! No eating, drinking, and/or chewing gum. Only water bottle.
Textbook: You will enjoy your textbook “¡EXPRESATE!”. You will be given a copy to keep at home until the end of the school year (please do not bring to school). You will use a textbook from the class set provided for my class if needed. Please take care of the textbook and do not take any from my class set; if you do this by accident , please return it immediately!
Bring to class daily: 1. Notebook (3 subject): “Cuaderno Interactivo” 2. Two sharpened pencils; black/blue pen; and a highlighters and/or color pencils

Grading: Your grade in this class depends on your efforts. Your final grade for each semester will be based on the following: 25 % = Participación
15 % = Pruebas (Quizitos)
20 % = Proyecto
15 % = Tarea (Homework)
15 % = Examen Final
10 % = Trabajos (Classwork)
