Appendix A: NSWFDA/UFNSW President’s Report September 2004 Once again we have reached the end of another successful year for UFNSW/NSWFDA. I would firstly like to thank all elected officers of the UFNSW for their awesome efforts for 30042004 Treasurer: Sally Basten Secretary: Rachel Grindlay Administration Officer: Sian Munro Vice President: Charles Blumer Juniors Development Officer: Nikki Shires Web and IT Officer: Ken Sheppard University Development Officer: Alex Leung Marketing Development Officer and State Coaching Co-ordinator: Owen Shepherd Women’s Development Officer: Colleen Dickson and Michelle McDonough Elite Development Officer: Chris Stephens This group has been dedicated throughout the year with many fantastic results coming. Some of the highlights include: The Department of Sport and Recreation extended funding for an additional year for another $10,000. We were not required to submit our new application, as they were not ready to go through the evaluation process needed for assessment. This will be one of the major tasks for the next year. We are hoping to build towards requesting the next level of funding for the next 3-year period ($100,000 over the 3 year period), which would hopefully see us be able to employ a part time administrator more extensively. A large number of policies have been finished which will help future development progress more smoothly. These are due to be implemented as soon as possible. One of the major highlights this year was the culmination of juniors development which seen the UFNSW sponsor 6 NSW juniors to play in the first ever Australian junior teams to represent Australia. With the vast majority of the Australian Juniors Teams coming from NSW I think we are now reaping the rewards of a lot of hard work from a number of volunteers. Well done all!!! On the same note, I would like to congratulate all the NSW players that represented Australia in the 2004 World Ultimate Championships. The combined Australian effort across all levels rd showed how far we have developed at the elite levels. To come in 3 overall is an immense compliment to the hard work that the elite players have put in. Our numbers have continued to grow through the increased efforts at league levels and learn2play sessions. We consistently see new members joining and progressing through the ranks at numerous locations throughout Sydney and much more interest across regional NSW. This is heartening to see as more people choose to continue playing Ultimate. I would like to thank all those involved in the running of these leagues and learn2play sessions. All in all, I think we have had an awesome year with development and results of all the hard work put in by the officers and their helpers. Thank you. Simon Farrow President 2003-2004
