5000 years ago, the Himalayan sages conceived the use of spices and herbs as a natural means to balance the metabolism of the body. This knowledge became the corner stone of the Ayurvedic medicine or the “Science of Life.” Spices are an intrinsic part of cooking at the serve not only because the exotic colours and heady aromas elevate any dish from ordinary to a sublime feast for the senses of sight, smell and taste, but because most are known to possess therapeutic and healing properties. Turmeric (Haldi) is a wonder spice. It imprives liver function, prevents coughs and cold improves skin tone, and is a blood purifier, an antiseptic, and a strong antioxidant.
Clove (Laung) controls gum and tooth infections, anti-nausea, combats, colds, strengthens nerves and improves circulation.
Cumin(Jeera) helps flush toxins from the body and is good digestive, especially to “settle” a heavy meal.
