Well I hope everyone had a great Fat Tuesday and Paczki season. Here at May 2nd GCRBA m eet ing w/ Dawn Graeters we put out over 2,500 filled Paczki on Fat Tuesday alone! We had a Jun 1st Nat ional Donut Day Great time at Lakota West with our Jun 24t h Coney Picnic contest it was a lot of fun to do it. The Worlds Largest King Cake went very well at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center. A big shout out to all the bakers and their King Cakes. They all looked great. An extra big shout out to Sue Gorman for running the event that evening. Now it is Easter on the horizon and lots of hot cross buns to do along with all the cakes. Thank you to Bakemark for sponsoring our next meeting at Houston Inn. Hope to see everyone there... and now it is back to the ovens... Rob Sanz
Paczki were all over the City with Great Bakeries supporting their local High Schools. None gave as warm a welcome as St Henry's. The Paczki were enjoyed, but not loved as much as Mary Ann! Grandma was greeted by most of the School Staff, and I figured out (after I saw her engraved brick on the gym wall) that her children had roomed these halls!
Fat Tuesday Mardis Gras for the Homeless was another success, Thanks to the donations of BakeMark, Dawn, Bakery Hill (MCI), Bonnie Lynn, Busken, Bonomini, Graeter 's, Harrison Home Bakery, Reginas, Little Dutch Bakery, Schmidt 's and Servatii. We could not have done it without Rob Sanz, Betsy LaSorella, Tom and Robin Davis setting up and icing the Kings Cakes. My daughter Madsion, Jen Nicklson, Sue Gorman, and her son Brian served from a full table to sanding sugar and crumbs... Proceeds went to Bethany House Services of Cincinnati, as well as Brighton Center ?s Homeward Bound and Welcome House of Northern Kentucky in Covington. Together these agencies serve more than 40,000 needy individuals each year. ?This fundraiser which has raised more than $1,453,021 for homeless children,? event chairman Gordon Snyder said. ?When we hear that Cincinnati ranks second in the nation with the number of homeless children,? Snyder said, ?what more do we need to say.? Mardi Gras featured more than 50 booths of food and beverages.
Proceeds from our Golf Outing will be awarded to the scholarship winners at the BakeMark Meeting. Congratulations to MCI second year Culinary Students: Kristen Wilker, Anisa Fegan, Grace Smith, Jade Mack, Jordan McClure. Each will be awarded a five hundred dollars towards their tuition by the OBA. At Cincinnati State, a two year program can be transferred to more than twenty different universities. And when Cincinnati State averages three thousand dollars versus over eight thousand a year for an in-state public four-year college, the value is undeniable.
Thank you Paper Products for All the Boxes!
