Executive Summary: The name Lost and Found gives insight into the store in two ways. First, the Lost and Found corporations intend to reestablish what has been lost from the past – high quality, personal customer care. From the moment a person steps into the establishment until the moment that person leaves, the customer will feel personally valued, and will receive excellent care. The idea of a soda fountain as part of a pharmacy is also a relic from the past which has virtually been lost. Through the rediscovering of this novel type of pharmacy visitors will be drawn into a friendly atmosphere and made to feel like part of a family. Second, the term Lost and Found refers to the spiritual state of the potential visitors. Some who enter may be lost. Others may be found. It is the goal of Lost and Found, Inc. to extend the Love and Grace of God in the hopes that each of its patrons will be found over time. Two incorporated Lost and Found entities have been created to function in close relationship to each other. 1) Lost and Found, Pharmacy, Inc. is an independent pharmacy targeted toward the geriatric population. The pharmacy has received non-profit status 501(c)(3) to serve the greater needs of the community. 2) Lost and Found Soda Fountain, Inc. is a proprietary retail business with profits funneled toward the pharmacy and geriatric causes. Throughout the rest of this plan unless otherwise specified, “Lost and Found, Inc.” will refer to the combination of both entities. Business on both levels will be operated with a Christian ethical foundation. As a whole the Lost and Found entities will be concerned with the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of its patrons. Lost and Found Pharmacy, Inc. will offer traditional pharmaceutical products as well as specialty or difficult to find medicinal products. Services will include comprehensive health information services and assistance for uninsured patients (e.g. Medicare gap coverage). Lost and Found Soda Fountain, Inc. will provide refreshments, and a friendly atmosphere. Together, the soda fountain and pharmacy will provide for more attention to the whole health of its patrons. Lost and Found, Inc. will locate in Penn Hills, an area with a high percentage of geriatric people, to provide for the needs of this segment of the population. It is expected that the percent of elderly will increase dramatically in the coming years and resultant drug use as well as the need for drug information services will increase proportionally. It is likely that business will continue to expand to meet this predicted growth of health care needs. Relationships with other neighborhoods organizations including area churches, the Penn Hills Service
Association and the YMCA will be maintained. The pharmacy will comply with all state and federal laws and regulations regarding pharmacies. Likewise, the soda fountain will comply with all state and federal laws regarding food and fountain drinks. Both entities will The board of directors for Lost and Found Pharmacy, Inc. will include the managers, a representative of a sponsoring church, and a senior citizen from the community. The management team will be Shannon Parsons and Sean Parsons. Personnel will include another pharmacist, and one to two certified pharmacy technicians. Staff for Lost and Found Soda Fountain, Inc. will include the store Manager, Shannon Parsons, and one to two service team members. Associated professionals will be sought for legal, accounting, insurance, banking and other specialized services. The total cost for this project is $180,000.00. Over eighty thousand dollars of this total have already been invested or pledged to Lost and Found. Allowing for financing for the first few months after startup, it is estimated that an additional $100,000.00 is needed. Sources of funding will include donations, grants, private investments, pharmacy professional revenues, and soda fountain profits after start-up. Operations are set to begin within 3 to 6 months of obtaining sufficient funds.
