All entries in this department are subject to the General Rules and Regulations, the Junior Livestock Show Rules, and the Special Rules of this department. B. Other Breeds classes are open to Red Angus, Maine Anjou, Braford, Santa Gertrudis, Red Brangus, Brahmousin, Braler, Charbray, Gelbray, Shorthorn, Chianina and any other registered purebred breeds without a breed show at the West Texas Fair & Rodeo. C. Open to heifers of Bos taurus type that have been registered or issued a certificate of recordation with a recognized breed association. Breeds defined below are recognized in this division. Additional purebreds may be approved at the discretion of show management. Note: Specialty and miniature cattle breeds or percentages of these breeds will not be eligible to show in this division to include, but not limited to, Dexter, Longhorn, Lowline Angus, Miniature Hereford, Miniature Zebu and Wagyu. Breeds listed below are also recognized in this Division.
Braunvieh- Purebred, 7/8 or greater Braunvieh blood. Braunvieh Beef Builder- Must meet the Braunvieh Assocation rules for registrations as a Braunvieh Beef Builder. Eligible animals are at least a ¼ Braunvieh blood and less than purebred Braunvieh. Gelbvieh- Purebred, 75% or greater Gelbvieh blood. Gelbvieh Balancer- Must meet the American Gelbvieh Association rules for registration as a Balancer hybrid, 25% to 75% Gelbvieh with the balance Angus and Red Angus. Lim-Flex- Must be purple papered with less than 50% Limousin blood. Heifers with 50% or greater Limousin blood will show in the Limousin breed division. MaineTainer- Must be 25% to 62.5% Maine-Anjou. Percentage Charolais- Must have certificate of recordation with AICA. Percentage Chianina- Heifers with less than 6.25% Chianina influence that are not eligible to show in another breed division. Percentage Simmental- Heifers must be less than purebred. Pinzgauer- must be purebred (minimum of 87.5%) or Fullblood (100%) Shorthorn Plus- Must be registered as Shorthorn Plus.
Other breeds also recognized
Beefmaster Advancer- animals of 50% or more Registered Beefmaster breeding and 50% or less of other registered and DNA genotyped non-Beefmaster beef cattle breeding. Certified Beefmaster E6 (Certified by Beefmaster Breeders United to be at least 50% Beefmaster and can be as much as 100%. At least one of the parents must be registered as a purebred Beefmaster.) Braford- Purebred, heifers must be classified as “Braford Cow” on registration paper to be eligible to show. Braford F-1- Untied Braford Breeders registered first generation cross consisting of ½ Brahman—1/2 Hereford blood. No multiple generation half blood or other near-half blood cattle will be accepted. Heifers must be classified as “First Generation” on registration papers to be eligible. Brahmousin- Purebred Brangus Premium Gold- progeny of Registered Brangus or Red Brangus and any commercial animal. Brangus Optimizer- progeny of Registered Brangus or Red Brangus and any other registered animal except Angus and Red Angus. Charbray- Purebred. Gelbray- Purebred. Golden Certified F-1- a female that is the progeny of two registered parents with one parent being registered Brahman resulting in a F1 cross (50% Brahman x 50% Bos Taurus). Percentage Simbrah- Minimum of 3/16 Brahman influence. Star 5- must be 50%-75% Santa Gertrudis blood. UltraBlack- progeny of Registered Brangus and an Enrolled Angus. UltraRed- progeny of Registered Red Brangus and an Enrolled Angus/Red Angus
D. Certificate of Veterinary Inspection current, within 30 (thirty) days is required and must be presented upon arrival at the gate to be allowed onto the grounds.
