Licensing program
The Moomin success having originated from Tove Jansson’s books and developed into virtually all forms and media, the Moomins have gained a prominent position among the “classics”. The Moomin books have been translated into more than 50 languages and the 1990s TV animation series (104 episodes of 30 minutes) has aired in over 124 countries. This, together with continuous exposure of the Moomins on TV and in exhibitions all around the world, forms the perfect base for a long-term licensing program. Since the fifties, many licensees throughout the world have been producing a variety of products with Moomin designs. This has been increasing steadily and as of now (2016) there are approx. 600 licensees worldwide, connected to our licensing program. This is annually generating a consumer value of EUR 600 million.

CHARITY PROJECT During 2015-2016 Bulls Licensing and Moomin Characters have selected Håll Sverige Rent (Keep Sweden Tidy Foundation) as their charity partner. Tove Jansson loved the sea and caring for the environment was very important to her. The love for nature is a recurring theme in the Moomin books and Tove spent many summers on the island Klovharun in the Finnish archipelago. This is not the first time the Moomins and Håll Sverige Rent have worked together. During the seventies, Tove and her brother Lars Jansson created a few illustrations exclusively for the foundation and a campaign called “Save the Baltic Sea”. The same artwork has been a part of Moomin´s 70th anniversary 2015 for a campaign to teach children about the environment. This work will continue in 2016 and Moomin licensees are offered the opportunity to be part of this charity project and use the unique artwork on their products.
