Edinburgh Disaster Response Appeal Helping families in need across the world this Christmas
Dear Supporter, Thank you for fundraising for the Edinburgh Disaster Response Appeal. The money you raise will impact the lives of families in need across the world. Families like Mustafa’s Mustafa is 12 years old. His family fled the fighting in Syria and for the past three years he has lived in a refugee camp. Witness to the horror of war and the trauma of fleeing his home, Mustafa’s hair turned white. Mustafa lost all that was familiar to him, and his family has lost all that they have worked for. You can help Mercy Corps to give vital supplies to families like Mustafa’s. By joining us and raising money you will help to provide shelter, food, basic sanitation, safe spaces to play, and support for Mustafa and many others around the world. You will help families to recover and rebuild.

How your fundraising will change lives
Over the past three years, over 10 million people in Syria have been forced to run from war. Many will spend winter freezing in tents in countries that are not their own. In South Sudan, two million people have been forced to leave their villages and will be sheltering in camps as conflict begins again after the rainy season. Wherever they are, these families have left homes, livelihoods, and all their possessions behind in the midst of conflict‐ they are struggling to survive and see hope for a better future.
Your fundraising will enable Mercy Corps to provide:
Emergency food assistance
Clean water, shelter and sanitation
Winter survival supplies
Psychosocial support to help children heal from the trauma of war
Conflict resolution to help refugees and host communities resolve tensions over scare resources.
£16 will help feed a family for two weeks. £20 provides water to nine families. £40 will give eight warm winter blankets. £96 will provide a hygiene kit to help family of 12 for a month.
