About us Act for Kids is a prominent provider of free prevention, professional therapy and support services for children who have suffered abuse and support for families at risk. About the position The Pathways for Early Learning and Development (PELD) service model is an integrated, cross disciplinary and multi-generation service model in which early learning and development is provided through an early childhood framework, scaffolded by family support services. This program is designed to support vulnerable families, with children aged birth to five years, who are experiencing multiple and complex needs. The Early Childhood Education Teacher will be responsible for co-delivering specialist supported play groups under the Abecedarian model, for parents and their children who are supported by an Intensive Family Support (IFS) service as well as early learning support through home visiting. Key responsibilities • Deliver supported Abecedarian model playgroups for children and their parents in line with PELD program guidelines. • To work collaboratively with allied health staff in the team. • Conduct intake and assessment of families capacity to engage in the program. • Undertake training as required in the Abecedarian Model. • To deliver home visiting support to families, with IFS staff, in line with case plan goals. To support families to consolidate program learnings. Manage and source resources required to facilitate playgroups. Establish relationships and alignment with local ECEC and school. Participate in stakeholder and case review meetings. Comply with all Act for Kids policies and procedures. Maintain confidentiality and privacy in all matters relating to staff, clients, and procedures. Fulfil other tasks that your manager/s may reasonably ask you to perform. Act as a client/customer focused, values based team member and work collaboratively with other staff to achieve strong results across all activities at Act for Kids. About you Qualifications • Four year degree qualified Early Childhood Education Teacher. • National registration as applicable to the profession is essential and membership of a relevant professional body is desirable. Skills and experience • At least two years’ experience working with children, young people and their families with complex needs. • Experience working with children 0-5 years and their families. • Ability to rapidly acquire an understanding of relevant child protection legislation and policy reforms. • Proven experience establishing a new practice or program. • Well-developed communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills. • Demonstration or understanding working from a trauma informed framework. • A high level of cultural awareness and experience working with families from different backgrounds. • Willingness to work collaboratively as part of the broader Act for Kids team. • Well-developed communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills. • High level time management and case load management skills. • An ability to use electronic case management and reporting tools and experience using Word and Excel. Other requirements • Eligibility for a Positive Notice for Child Related Employment (Blue Card), or professional accreditation which exempts this requirement. • A current driver’s license. • Applicants must be eligible to legally work in Australia and proof of eligibility may be requested.
