Valentine’s Day about much more than roses, chocolate by Emily Meachen VOW Adviser Love. It is said love makes the world go round. The Beatles claimed love is all you need. Taylor Swift has written 1000 songs about it. Love is truly everywhere. But as we approach the holiday centered on love, maybe a clarification of the true meaning of the word is needed. The Merriam-Webster Dictionary says love is a feeling of strong or constant affection for a person. Not once place in the definition is the mention of overpriced roses, fancy chocolates or giant teddy bears. You do not need to have a boyfriend or girlfriend to experience the love described in that definition.
You can use February 14 to celebrate the bond you have with your friends, your family and the people who are special to you. Now, celebrating with a traditional gift is great, but there are a lot of better things you could do to make Valentine’s more about love and less about materialistic items. Call your grandma. Thank your dad for all he does for your family. Make a homemade card for your best friend. Wash the dishes even when it is not your night. Make a batch of brownies for your favorite teacher. It is not just the big things that make Valentine’s Day special. It is the million little things you do for them every day that will make them feel loved.

We did things a little different this issue. First of all, we are only online. You obviously are reading this so you found us. Please tell your friends. We post online each week. Secondly, each staff member was in charge of a page. (Most of them even finished them.) We thought it would be fun if you knew who made the match ups. Remember – this is just for fun. No harm was meant by any matches. Please don’t be offended. Lastly, keep reading the Paw Print. It comes out every week. It has so much info that each member of the Wildkat community needs to know. We cannot publish a paper each week, but we can keep you informed. This week, the KATivities are at the back of the newspaper. Next week it will be all over the halls and online. Ingredients: ● Whip cream ● Vanilla or ● Chocolate candy coating ● Strawberries ● 2 Cupcake holders-identical
Chocolate Strawberry Cups
by Lexi Corona
Melt the preferred chocolate of your choice as it will be used for the base. Melt the chocolate in microwave in a baggy for about 1 minute. Then stir it around and go for about 30 sec.- 1 min. Once the chocolate is melted, fill the cup about ⅓ way because it’s only a base. Once all the cups have been filled, spray the bottom of your second tray and put it in the freezer for about 1 hour.
During this time, cut the strawberries in fourths, making room for the whip cream in the center. After an hour, take the cups off of the tray and begin filling with the strawberries along the edge. Add the whip cream and your preference of little treats. You can add chocolate, sprinkles or even little heart cookies. Make these for your friends or sweetie.

That being said, so many individuals seem to think that V-day is nothing more but to show off. While we are all entitled to our own personal opinion; I feel that said hatred for Valentine’s Day is nothing more than sadness due to lack of coupling. I say this because
Valentine’s Day is not only love for a significant other but love for whomever. Valentine’s Day is called the day of love meaning anyone’s... it is not specified. While yes we choose to celebrate the love for our significant other, it is not what the day is about. V-Day is about sharing the love of any family member, best friend, girlfriend, wife or anyone that has brought joy to your life. You celebrate that you met said
person and you are grateful for this relationship. This day is specific to show how much that person means to you. You should throughout the year make sure that person knows how much he or she means to you. However, in our daily lives we become consumed with living and taking care of ourselves, Therefore, we take this day to take the time to go overboard in showing love to other We try to re-
ally make up for the lack of effort throughout the entire year. So instead of taking this Valentine’s Day and sulking in self wallow, how about taking the time and showing your parents or siblings, or even your best friends to celebrate this day that is meant to bring joy to all!

Need help planning your Valentine’s date?
Follow these simple guidelines for perfect night By Austin McComb VOW staff In this issue of Voice Of The Wildkats, you’ll see a lot of articles saying “What to do” or “What to buy.” These articles tell you what to do, but they definitely don’t tell you what NOT to do. Most people will say “I don’t care where we go” or “I don’t care where we eat” or “I don’t care what you look like.” Please, oh please, don’t believe a word they say. There are certain things you just do not do on Valentine’s Day. Allow me to reiterate, please do not do these things. There are certain ways to dress for a Valentine’s Day date. The last thing you want to do is show up dressing like
you would at school. Also, please try to not overdress or underdress. If you’re going to the movies, don’t go overboard and wear a suit and tie. Rather, maybe just wear a nice button-up shirt. And pants, pants are important.When deciding where to go, don’t choose something too far away. It’s important to keep it local. Don’t go to Houston to see the same movie you could see in Conroe. If you’re going to eat out, don’t go to somewhere that is a franchise like Olive Garden or Chili’s. You especially don’t want to go get fast food. You can’t go wrong with going somewhere that isn’t a franchise (I hear Joe’s Italian Pizza and Pasta is really good. Hint hint, wink wink).
WHAT NOT TO DO Some more important things that you should not do are:

1. Show them your collection of dead bodies in the attic.* 2. Listen to your audiobook of “Mein Kampf” in the car with them.* 3. Forget to hide all those pictures you took of them from a mile away.* But most importantly, don’t have a bad time! Remember to have fun this Valentine’s Day.

Don’t let lovey-doveyness get you in your feels by Audrey Caka VOW staff No sweetie for the big day?? I have compiled a list of things singles can do on Valentine’s Day. It’s almost cruel to see all the lovey-doveyness in the hallways around Valentines. The sound of kisses down the hallways, and boys and girls pressed so close there is no room for Jesus can really get you down; goodness me oh my I can’t stand it. Compiling this list has made me think, it might not be so bad being single. You don’t have to go out if you don’t want to. You
can save that money that you would have spent on your significant other and spend it all on yourself. You are permitted to be selfish and are not reprimanded for doing so. You can flirt with whoever you want, even if you think that they are out of your league; it doesn’t hurt to try. If you are struggling with being single on Valentine’s Day, it’s okay. You can have a little pity party, but afterwards go out and meet new people, find someone worth your time. You can have lots of fun on Valentine’s Day, if you are not in the dumps about it.

Alleykats – has a match on Friday against Caney Creek Friday at 300 Bowl.
Aquakats had a great regional meet for divers senior Kaley Batten and sophomore Michaela Fleming. Batten won the gold with a score of 411.85 points. Fleming placed 2nd with a score of 401.80. GOING TO STATE! Baseball Varsity– Houston Christian , Home, 2/12 @ 4pm. JV– Houston Christian , Away 2/12@6pm Sophomore– Houston Christian, Away 2/12@5pm Boys Basketball – The team will play College Station here on Friday. It is senior night. Freshman games start a 5. It is senior night, so go support the KATS as the regular season closes. Boys Soccer plays Bryan at home tonight. The games start at 4:30 and 6:30. Cheer - February 15 and 16th are the tryout meetings. You must attend one meeting with a parent. Try out are on March 11th. Meets are for cheer and mascot candidates. Choir is preparing for U.I.L. Competition. Drama - Theatre 3&4 will be having auditions Thursday and Friday for their adaptation of Peter Pan. Freshman Counselor - Text @willis2019 to 81010 to get signed up to Mrs. Adkinson’s remind 101 and receive notifications about upcoming events. FFA– FFA day is at the Capitol 2/23. San Antonio Livestock show and Rodeo has started. Guitar – Ten Guitar II, III and IV students competed at UIL Guitar contest last week. Three ensembles earned the top rating of I at the event. The following musicians earned an I: Stephen Stark, Carla Conde, Brandon Padua, Luisa Hernandez, Christian Bryant, Jackson Smith, Luke Copriano. Three students earned a II rating Justin Cooper, Joshua Barnhill and Lila Escobar for their ensemble. Girls Soccer is honoring teachers this week at the Friday night game. The games start at 4:30 at Berton A. Yates Stadium. Powerlifting Had meet 2/13 at Shepherd HS. Softball won their scrimmage 9-2 against College Park. The team will be @ Dayton tonight. Tennis will be at College Park all day on February 12th.
