Delivery Manager – Apprenticeships Head of Skills/Delivery
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES The Apprenticeship Manager is a key member of the College management team and is responsible for managing the apprenticeship delivery team and the expansion of apprenticeship provision. The Apprenticeship Manager will make a significant contribution to the growth and development of the apprenticeship provision. In particular the post holder will ensure that the College responds to the needs of industry and grows its apprenticeship provision into new vocational areas. The apprenticeship manager will be responsible for ensuring that College’s apprenticeship provision is delivered with high success rates and is audit compliant.
Develop the organisation’s apprenticeship offer to ensure that targets are achieved on, profile, fee / funding income, quality, costs and contribution. Work with the current Senior Management team and external organisations / stakeholders / customers and develop key strategic relationships. Identify opportunities for increasing margins and new business and work with senior management in creating and implementing development plans to ensure successful growth and development in the area. Ensure the College meets or exceeds the learner’s needs whilst fulfilling quality and financial targets. Ensure the timely and effective delivery of Apprenticeship programmes, across various sectors, inline with contractual targets and objectives. Performance management of Tutor/Assessors through one to one’s, regular appraisals and performance reviews as well as producing forecasts and reports on regional performance. Work closely with the IQA team to ensure quality assurance and compliance of work-based learning and other externally funded programmes. Work closely with customers and clients to maintain processes and procedures for learner interviews, admissions and the enrolment process relating to the provision in this area. Ensure all paperwork is compliant (starts / reviews / leavers and completions). Ensure that all sign-up and completion targets for all contract areas are met. Produce reports as required to support decision making at all levels in the organisation. Prepare accurate forecasts and produce reports on performance as required by Senior Management Team. Manage the commissioning of provision from sub-contracted providers, including the negotiation of appropriate agreements. Manage and monitor sub-contract provision to ensure that targets are achieved on, profile, fee / funding income, quality, costs and contribution. To contribute to the development of the College’s External Development Plan. To contribute to the development of the College’s Marketing and Sales Strategy. To lead on project initiatives locally and abroad in relation to the previous key accountabilities. To contribute to and deliver the Department’s contribution to the College Strategic Plan, financial budgets and forecasts. Manage and develop a portfolio of external relationships on behalf of the Department/College Manage the performance of staff in the Department to ensure that targets are agreed, monitored and met. To play a key part as a member of appropriate College Management Groups and to represent the Head of Skills/Delivery To liaise and work effectively with colleagues, staff and managers to meet College objectives.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Academic Leadership

To manage, as directed, curriculum initiatives in relation to employability and work-based learning. To maintain and improve the quality of curriculum delivery responsible for and raise achievement and retention rates To ensure the quality and consistency of the curriculum and its delivery.
Management of Staff
To manage and appraise the staff of the Department as directed. To contribute to the recruitment, induction and mentoring of Department staff. To promote effective Risk Management (including Heath & Safety) within the Department To direct staff development within the Department To ensure that all appropriate documentation and College returns are correctly completed by Department staff.
Student Management
To promote the holistic treatment and support of students within all the Department’s activities. To ensure the effective recruitment, induction, assessment and tutorial support of students. To ensure that the progress of students within the Department is monitored and where necessary, appropriate action is taken. To ensure that procedures for the management and support of students are implemented effectively. To ensure that students are suitably coursed to match their aspirations and abilities.
Resource Management
To lead and promote value–for-money / best value approaches to the use of resources within own and among Faculties. To manage effectively and monitor the budgets delegated to the Department. To ensure effective and efficient use of other assets allocated to the Department, e.g. rooms, equipment.
Quality
To promote and implement quality improvement within the Department. To provide training for Departments and other Business Services where required to promote quality improvement. To ensure College Quality Policy and Procedures are effectively implemented within the Department. To help co-ordinate the Department’s self-assessment process including observations and contribute to the College SAR. To ensure that audit requirements are met within Department activities.
External
To develop and maintain appropriate links with employers, community representatives, local high schools and other relevant educational institutions. To manage the links with sub-contracted partners. To represent the College at appropriate meetings and events. To identify market needs and stimulate the development of new courses and services to meet these needs with the Head of Skills/Delivery, and alongside the Departments.
General Duties
To promote the efficiency and effectiveness of the Department. To work closely with colleagues to promote a corporate approach to the organisation and management of the College To attend conferences and meetings as required from time to time at the College or elsewhere and undertake appropriate staff development
To participate in the Managers Duty Rota, as required. To contribute to the management of students throughout the College To support the College’s commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young adults and vulnerable adults To use information technology where appropriate and demonstrate a commitment to developing own IT skills To promote a positive image of the College at all times. To assist with the promotion, supervision, management and administration of such College activities as may be required from time to time. To carry out such other duties as may reasonably be required by the Principal.

REQUIREMENTS Successful track record within a commercial target driven business delivery environment delivering apprenticeship programmes. Experience of achieving challenging targets for income and expenditure and meeting budgets. Experience of working with government funding and Apprenticeship agencies Experience of organisation review and change projects, which informs your approach to these issues.
