The mascot became a razorback after the team adopted it after one of the coaches called his team “a wild band of razorback hogs”. -Tusk (A russian boar that is at every games as a live representation of the razorbacks) -Big Red
Historical Background ● Founded in March 27, 1871 as a land grant and state university. ● There were eight students and three faculty members who gathered at The University of Arkansas in 1872 on the hilltop overlooking the Ozark mountains when the school first started. ● Old Man , the first building for teaching , was completed in 1875 and remodeled in 1991.
