Hints for AP Calculus Students 1. Do not simplify your answers. You will receive full credit and save time. 2. If you think you have a better solution, cross out the first attempt. Crossed out work will not be graded. “Parallel solutions” refer to two different solutions which have not been crossed out. Grading of parallel solutions results in the truncated average of the two scores. 3. Be sure to use correct units and label your answers. 4. Try part (b) of a problem using your answer from part(a) even if you think it may be incorrect. Readers are trained to “read with the student” in several instances. 5. Do not write calculator syntax such as fnInt(Y1, X, 2, 5). Be sure to use correct calculus syntax. 6. Remember write your answers using three decimal places (rounded or truncated). 7. Know the relationship between a function and its derivative in terms of increasing, decreasing, positive, and negative. 8. Be sure to justify your answers completely. Do not say more than you have to and risk losing more points. 9. Circle your answers. 10. Label all definite integrals with correct limits of integration. 11. Always write correct mathematics.
