Aberdeen Booked! Festival Monday 29 – Tuesday 30 August ACT, Aberdeen The buzz of Edinburgh International Book Festival comes north for a two-day literary feast! For schools and community groups, each day offers free events with top authors including Allan Burnett, Katherine Howe, Joshua Seigal and Yuval Zommer, as well as a special event for local writers led by Peter Arnott, while there’s a glut of drop-in activities and pop-up performances to enjoy too. No ticket required for free events.
James Oswald and Gunnar Staalesen 5.30pm, Mon 29 August £5.00 (£3.50 concessions) – book online Cold cases and conspiring communities surface in new thrillers from either side of the North Sea. In The Damage Done, James Oswald’s Inspector McLean is drawn deep into Edinburgh’s shadowy high society chasing monsters from past and present. Norwegian Gunnar Staalesen’s PI Varg Veum must untangle a web of lies while investigating a child’s sinister disappearance 25 years ago. Two bestselling crime writers come together to discuss the latest chilling instalments of their iconic heroes. This event will be followed by a book signing, with copies of each writer’s work available to purchase on the night.
Aberdeen Booked! Unbound 7pm – 9pm, Mon 29 August ACT Aberdeen Free and unticketed Unbound, the nightly cabaret caper during Edinburgh International Book Festival, arrives for a one-off spectacular in the bar of ACT Aberdeen! This FREE evening of words, music and revelry is hosted by local writer Wayne Price and features Allan Burnett, Peter Arnott, Joshua Seigal, Helen Lynch and Shane Strachan, with local musical talent taking to the stage too.
