Reebok Canton, MA
In the Design Department of Reebok’s World Headquarters in Canton, MA, you’ll find IdeaPaint on almost every surface - from those we might call traditional to others unique to Reebok. For example, product designers use mannequins painted with IdeaPaint to sketch out new concepts. "It's better than trying to replicate that experience on paper," says Michael Schaeffer, Reebok’s Global Creative Director. "You get to see what a line actually looks like when it moves around the body. And since it is erasable, it's a lot easier to take a risk and try something, because it's no big deal. If you don't like it, you just swipe it off and start over." IdeaPaint can also be found on Reebok’s "Big Curved Wall" which anchors the office space while providing a massive work and play space that has evolved over time. When we visited Reebok in December, the wall was covered in unbelievable lifesize Christmas cartoons. "We even have smaller surfaces like columns painted throughout the office," says Schaeffer, "and these are spaces that are used for work, but also used for people to off-load ideas, and create spaces for the things people want to talk about." Welch’s Concord, MA
How many companies do you know that actually have their own Innovation Room? Welch’s does. Since 1869 when Dr. Thomas Welch pioneered the process for pasteurizing concord grapes, Welch’s has valued collaboration, consumer insights and, most recently, a progressive work environment. At its headquarters in Concord, Massachusetts, Welch’s took the traditional "war room" concept and flipped it on its head. Decked out with comfortable furniture, reading materials and product samples, the Welch’s Innovation Room emphasizes teamwork and stimulates conversation. The wall-to-wall IdeaPaint installation offers a boundless ideation space perfect for large teams to work together. "Beyond just focusing on product innovation, we also emphasize innovation in how we work together," says Anne-Lise Lucas, Group Manager, Global Innovation in R&D. "We do this best in a collaborative, cross-functional way.” Welch's Brand Manager Phil Drapeau adds, "I always encourage the people I am working with that if they think they have a big idea, try and visualize it. If you can visualize the concept, and other people see it, then you know you are on to something. And with IdeaPaint in our Innovation Room, we now have the ability to draw out everything, and visualize any idea. It makes everyone's job easier to see each other's work.”
HubSpot Boston, MA
When HubSpot, Inc.’s VP of Platform Strategy, Yoav Shapira, set out to lead the design of their new office space at The Davenport (home to Zipcar and, once, us!), he decided to include IdeaPaint everywhere. As they handle all of our web activities, we knew that by adding IdeaPaint, we would benefit from their increased productivity! IdeaPaint aligns seamlessly with HubSpot’s unique approach to product development. Shapira explained that, “Instead of writing long specifications which no one ever reads, much less builds, we rely on ad-hoc collaboration across small, cross-functional teams. For those teams, it's crucial to always have an available place to share ideas, thoughts, sketches, wireframes, and other design artifacts. IdeaPaint fills that important need for us in an easy, accessible, convenient way.” Adds Kirsten Knipp, HubSpot's Director of Product Evangelism, "Now, with IdeaPaint in all our meeting rooms and large workspaces, we're able to increase the use of imagery in our discussions - and it makes us a lot more productive. That real time visual collaboration makes all of HubSpot much more effective. Not to mention, drawing on walls is pretty fun!" We were excited to hear that IdeaPaint has become more than a productivity tool. “It's not a stretch at all to say it's become a standard, important part of our culture, across the whole company."
Cramer Norwood, MA
The team at Cramer has mastered the art of the allaround. Any corporate communications challenge you have, they can solve. How can all of that happen under one roof? According to Derrick Wood, Senior VP and Creative Director, much of Cramer’s success can be attributed to the diversity of creative minds in-house and the unique ability to call on anyone's expertise during the brainstorming process. To maximize this strength and to keep them ahead of the competition, they redesigned a central part of the office to help foster interdisciplinary communication. Known for transforming neglected office space into prime real estate, IdeaPaint was essential in the creation of Cramer’s Innovation Lounge. IdeaPaint not only enlivened the office environment for Cramer employees, its presence sends the message to visitors that at Cramer, “you’re expected to be creative; it’s safe to be creative. You’re expected to be innovating and brainstorming.” This line of thought is unwavering. One of Cramer President Richard Sturchio’s guiding principles is that, “Creativity goes well beyond just the formation of an idea. It needs to be a true part of a company’s culture.” It is no surprise that they have won accolade after accolade for their creative and innovative solutions. In fact, a row of trophies for their successes now sits atop an IdeaPaint wall. Coincidence? We think not
G2
Boston, MA We love seeing our customers get creative with our product, and this is a great example. Check out how Boston-based IT consulting firm G2 Technology Group used IdeaPaint to create a custom, branded work space in their new office. G2 used IdeaPaint in their conference room, on their table and on the wall, but they didn’t stop there. They partnered with Alphabet Arm Design to create a completely unique, on-brand, functional workspace in their main office area. Take a look at the video to see the entire effect. It's a beautiful thing when fashion and function collide. G2 President, Glenn Grant, remembers the planning process: "One of the few requirements for IdeaPaint in G2’s new office was that I didn’t want to see any boring old squares or rectangles. Our IdeaPaint implementation is completely unique to G2, consistently wows visitors, and still has a clean and professional look and feel. When it comes to whiteboards you can’t get much more outside-of-thebox than IdeaPaint.” G2’s installation is the perfect example of how lowtech solutions can enhance the entire ambience of a workspace. At G2, their workspace is uniquely theirs, which not only reflects the company’s personality but its commitment to a well-rounded, high quality experience for its customers.
